I talked to Steve at Barlows and he gave me what I think is an excellent price compared to what my local dealer was going to give me. Trade wise he is a little low, but he is giving me a great price on the machine. .

He didn't say. He included it in the cost of the tractor.

I've bought two tractors from Barlow's. I dealt with Brady - but you just cant beat their prices. Even if you include several hundred miles of delivery. Also, sometimes buying out of state and having it delivered can save you a lot in taxes.

No you can't beat their prices, but you can beat the quality. I had a few problems with My L5240 from them, all assembly related. I have been in major crunch time building a house since I got it, and have not had the time to follow up with their service dept on any of the smaller stuff, so I have just fixed what I could and kept running. That was 1.5 yrs ago. Frankly, i thought the assembly work was very bush-league and did not live up to the accolades they get on this site. Stupid stuff like not connecting remotes or controls correctly, not torquing wheels, etc. Things that would be obvious if anyone even checked. But the price beat the locals by a few thousand, so I guess I made my own bed, and I will lie in it. If you have the time to follow up with them on anything wrong, then maybe it will work, but I have been working full time at my regular job and additionally pretty much full time at building the house for the past 1.5 yrs, so I do not have time to deal with equipment problems. I just did what I needed to do to get by. It's working fine now, but I had to replace a wheel after the studs came loose and egged out the mounting holes, and replumb the remotes and controls entirely. Man did that all piss me off....

Frankly after all the positive press they get here, I was very disappointed in Barlows. I bought new to avoid problems, and I got more problems than I had when I bought the previous tractor used with 1000 hrs or so. If I had more time to follow up on these things, My attitude may have improved, but why should I have to do that on simple stuff? Price - good, quality - not good. Yeah it makes me mad, especially for this amount of money.

I've bought 15 new and one used Kubotas from Barlows in the past 11 years. Their price and assembly can't be beat.:2cents: So few assembly issues that I can't even remember any.:2cents:
Dealers sometimes get new Kubotas delivered to them from other dealers for whatever reasons. The new machines belong to Kubota until they are sold so Kubota makes some of the decisions of where their machines are moved to/come from between dealers.

In most states, this is not true. While out of state dealers don't collect taxes, that doesn't mean that you're not liable for them.

I believe some states have a tax exemption for agricultural purchases. The people who buy for personal use, out of state to save the tax should be very careful and check what states share what information. The penalty could be a shocker. That said, if I could save 1500.00 on sales tax, with no back lash, I probably would. I know some people would chirp about it being wrong etc. But it's like if you drive over the speed limit and font get a ticket..do you turn yourself in and pay a fine anyway.

Always a conundrum on buying local and spending more for quick support or going elsewhere to save money and give up quick support. I bought local and my brother bought out of state.

Barlow's pricing was so unbelievably lower than any other dealer I went to including Messick's. Don't get me wrong, Messick's was in the ballpark, but Barlow's was a good amount lower than them. Messick's was up front about shipping which was $800. I have Barlow's working on a price for a 4060 just to see how much more the price may jump up. I like the more GPM hydraulic flow on the 4060, but I'll have to see how much the price is going to jump up.

I then had a call into one of my local dealers and he quoted me MSRP. I asked him if he was nuts. He said he would go to his boss and see what he could do. No thank you. As far as I am concerned, you already tried to screw me.
