Just in case anyone out there was going to try to stop a bullet with phone books.

Nope but a phone book (a good sized one) will easily stop a suppressed 9mm.

Well, a phone book will stop a BB. When I was a kid we used to use old phone books for targets so we could shoot in the house.

For some reason I don't think my parents knew we were doing that.

Its a good idea to specify the thickness since a NY or Chicago phone book is likely to be a better shield than, say, a North Platte, NE or Walden, CO phonebook.

I saw an episode of the Sopranos where a NY phone book stopped a bullet by I could not see the type of gun....I think it was a 38 snub..but no sure...LOL

NATO's green tip 5.56 rounds will blow through a piece of 1/4 " piece of Diamond Plate, don't ask how I know.

you have lots of variables to deal with.

sub sonic ammo or not?

hollow point or FMJ?

I have both in sub sonic and standard loads... will have to test on my next range visit what it does thru a subgun suppressed and un suppressed.
