Just ordered a FEL for my BX2230

I"m intrested to know if I"ll be able to dig virgin ground with my FEL. MY main uses will be for gravel and woodchips, but who knows, I may want to dig some dirt. I would also be willing to buy a weight box if need be. Thanks

May as well start shopping for a tooth bar.
Loaders are just that...for loading loose materials.

Digging in dirt requires more pressure per square inch then the front bucket can deliver. However, the tooth bar will concentrate the digging force enough to break the dirt up...to a degree.
Don't think you're going to dig a house foundation...you're not.

But, using the tooth bar to break up or back drag clumpy dirt, then using the loader to move that dirt...works pretty well.

But, you've got a CUT, not a 15 ton Industrial Front End Loader. Know the limitations of your tractor and work within them.

Get that toothbar..you'll be glad you did!

You'll definitely want weight on the back of that 2230 if you are picking up any significant amount of dirt. I just bought a 2230 with bar tires, FEL and toothbar for the small chores where the big tractor is overkill. I get the sense it will do some digging, but it is a bit light for really heavy work. Needs ballast in the tires or an implement out back, preferably both, to keep the back end on the ground. If the operator weighs more than, say, 200 lbs, that helps too. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
