It is called The Sunguard Sunshade. Photos of it look nice on the company site. Can get them in Deere Greene, NH Blue, or Kubota/ Kioti Orange, Neatest thing is you can personalize them. I am having them print "Hillbilly Convertible" on the back. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Would like a 350Z convertible but got mu 'bota, instead.

For anyone who is interested, here is the link to the company site www.sun-guard.com . Item 3 on e-bay Item number: 7618732503. It appears they are about 1/2 tp 2/3 the cost pf the factory Kubota canopy and, from the company website, it looks nice on the BX IMO.

From an earlier thread, AMR posted:
I have really researched the sun shade for my BX23. From what I have seen I think I will go with the Kubota sun shade. I have checked with three dealers and they are all $385 plus tax, the only word of caution is that they are tough to find in stock and one dealer was going to charge me $85 for shipping, I said thank you no and looked around to find one in stock.
Total cost $470. On e-bay, cost for the personalized sunshade was $239 with free shipping and no tax. Half price and looks decent to me. Anyone else take a look?

Bought my sunshade from the dealer, cost me 325 that includes tax. The one i got from the dealer looks more sturdy, also the under part of the sunshade is insulated.

You may be right. However, to me, a sunshade is a sunshade. Checked out the website and viewed their strength tests ets. Also note 100% approval rating on e-bay and endorsements from various tractor suppliers. The company may just be good at marketing, but it sure appears they are doing something right. When I receive my sunshade I will update regarding installation, design, etc. Even if it is only 2/3 the price , it is stilll $100 saved.

Received my sunshade today. Was waiting in the garage whan I got home. Threw "Peter Pan" in for the kids and made them dinner, then retired to the garage to mount that puppy. Got it on before the movie was over and it looks great. Took the tractor for a quick test drive- no probs. The wife is not so impressed as she deemed it an "unnecessary" expense. I explained to her that she is not the one who is out in the sun for hours on end or getting drenched in torrential downpours as I did last weekend doing the minor menial tasks I could get done in the rain. I imagine I will get back in her good graces eventually, until then I will admire my new addition and gloat inwardly, thinking to myself, "It was worth it!". Love my bota. Next up grill guard- wonder how much penance I will have to do for that? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeh, it's been a great shade for me. I really like to get at least a half hour of work everyday when I get home from work in the winter and a few hours in the summer and the shade has really made it comfortable. I don't mind the rain or 100°+ sun with that shade. It's a good shade at a good price point. Period.
Cheers!

Homebrew,
Interested in how you use the shade in winter. Do you modify it so that it becomes a de facto home-made cab? I was thinking that might come in handy. (Also another way to prove its value, right?). I truly know that is a battle I will not win, but I am tenacious.

I live in the foothills above the Great central valley of Kalifornia. The valley is technically a desert, ie, ~10" of rain/yr. I may get 20-40" per year in the hills. Low temp is ~15° (once every 10 years). Snow comes ~4" every 5 yrs or so. We have no winter here, to speak of. I believe we do pretty well in the summer dept. though. So in winter, I like having what rain might come just roll off the shade. Though after a full winter with my shade, I never remembered that value (that is a function of the amount of beer I drink) but, felt SO COOL tooling around in the rain and not getting a direct hit from it. I like watching it just drip off the edges and laugh ... I am single and insane so your milage may vary /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Check out a search on TBN for those who have bought the ~$100 golf cart rain cover from NorthernTool. It's supposed to fit right over a shade and provide a nice cheap winter "cab".
Cheers!
