As I understand it, the holes in the bucket are for the optional cutting edge. I was unable to readily find individual teeth for mine, and wound up with a toothbar from W. R. Long. I'm happy with it, but the dealer's tech drilled the holes for it a bit too far back. If you drill the holes at the front of the slot on each side, the toothbar can be pulled forward and turned up into the bucket when you want a smooth edge, without having to take it all the way off. But a toothbar sure beats the bare bucket edge for digging!
