Ok I just bought a 24 acre farm in TN and I don't know much about any of it. I am leaning to the Kama 454 or 554 and will need a loader and other accessories. Besides the farming I need to dig out trees and put house footings and fence posts in. Can any of you clue me in on dealers near TN and what would be a good price. Don't want to import a crate. Oh!, what is a shuttle shift. I used to be an aircraft mechanic so I am not worried about picking up a wrench. Any input is GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks, Jim

Hi Jim,
Well we are just to the west in Arkansas. I have KM454s in stock with Koyker 195 loaders installed. Shuttle shift on the KAMA simply moves reverse to a separate lever and allows the operator to go forward and backward at the same speed (more or less) using the same gear and range. We have had good luck with only a few minor issues. The engines are well built and heavy duty industrial design direct injection and start great even at 20deg F. We also have a couple of KM450 2WD units in stock but recommend 4wd for loader operation. check us out at our website and give us a call or email for a quote

You don't say where in TN, but you're welcome to come look at my KM454 if it's no too far away. I'm about 100 miles NW of Nashville.

I had it imported from Arkansas.

Greg, thanks for the offer to look at your KM454. The farm I bought is Russellville close to Morristown, but I still live in California until next summer. I will be going back to work on the house from time to time and maybe then stop buy to check it out. How do you like it...good and bad... I was hoping to find a dealer in Oregon so no sales tax but haven't had any luck yet. If you don't mind what am I looking at in $$$ for the tractor and the implements you have.

Thanks

Jim

There is no sales tax in Arkansas, if you buy for farm use, you could stop an pick one up on your way from California!

If your property meets minimum acreage requirements, and you fill out some simple paperwork, KY and TN have agricultural exemptions. So there's a pretty good chance you can factor sales tax out of the equation.

I obtained my equipment in such a manner to make it difficult to compile a representative purchase price. It's covered on my farm policy for $13K, if that's any help. Since you're starting from scratch, you'd be better off talking to a dealer - as "package deals" are quite popular around here; but vary with tractor brand/size, and number/type of implements/trailer involved.
