I've posted a few times over the past few months about our house & property after Katrina last August. I've finally got some progress to report. The biggee is that we moved back into our house last week, after 3 months in a 31' travel trailer. This is sooo much nicer, having a little room to move about. The contractor did a great job - - we have nearly a complete renovation: new roof, refinished wood floors, new ceilings in several rooms, new paint everywhere, plus a few extras that my wife added onto the job. Now comes the job of unpacking everything that we've had in storage. And, the walls are completely blank - - I DO NOT look forward to hanging all the stuff the boss will want on the walls.
The other biggee: the mortgage company finally forwarded the balance of our insurance money. That's very good news, as they were a major hurdle & extremely ornery to deal with at times.
And another good sign- - FEMA contractors are making another, & I assume final, sweep down our road, picking up trees, stumps and demolition debris.
I won't say that things are back to normal - - things will never look the same as pre-K; however, we are making good progress. And we are very fortunate to have escaped the flooding they had in New Orleans and the stronger winds & tidal surge of the gulf coast.
Just in time for the start of another hurricane season come June 1.
