I would like to know also. I hope to receive the tractor (DK4710SE cab) this coming week. However the backhoe was accidentally sold, so I must wait until another comes in. I plan to get the Michigan Iron hydraulic thumb before the ripper, but eventually I will want a ripper.

You can search TBN for Michigan Iron Ripper or Bro-Tek Ripper, or BX Expanded Ripper and you will see all the posts and you can look on the associated web sites to get one that fits on the KB2485.

I got the Bro-Tek ripper / Trencher 8 years ago and it has been great for digging stumps, picking rocks, and trenching water/electrical lines with a narrow 5-6" W x 12-16" deep.

I drop the bucket onto a furniture dolly when I take it off, easier than lifting.

I had bxpanded make me a custom one I gave them all the measurements. My experience with this is your better off with a narrow bucket. You start digging and tearing stuff up you have no way of removing dirt. Found it faster and easier with narrow bucket

Thanks for the advice. I finally got the KB2485 backhoe. It came with an 18" bucket. The bucket moves a lot of dirt, but now I'm thinking about a very narrow but long bucket with serrated edges like you have there would be more useful. I think that the 18" bucket is not going to perform well when using a thumb, but I could be wrong.

I have the same hoe & have used it a lot over the past five years. I wanted a narrow bucket, but the 18" was the smallest available when I bought the tractor. The first mod I did was to cut the bucket down to around 10". The 18" was just too wide for most things I need to do.
The reworked bucket is great for French drains, septic fields & digging stumps. I'm building a thumb for it now & im sure it will help a lot with stump removal.
I looked at the ripper early on, but the narrow bucket works so well I never had the need.
