Hi guys I have on question: I want to get this KC light kit during this week to put on the 990 once it gets back from the shop but will my 20 amp alternator be able to handle 16.6 amps from the two lights that are 100 watts each along with the headlights? What if I upped to the 35 amp alternator?

Well after doing some calculations I would need the bigger alternator. It's 400 some dollars so I think I better get the small rectagle KC light kit unless you guys think the round lights would work without draining the battery and overloading the alternator too badly.

I think with a 20 amp alternator you are asking for trouble with almost any add-on electrical accessory except ones that only draw one or two amps. Don't forget your alternator has to run the engine, charge the battery and power the stock lights.

Yeah ,that's what I was kind of thinking. I think I will just go with the 55 watt rectangle KC lights since they are the same wattage that we have on our 970 so it should work and look great. I added up all the amperes of the stock lights with the 100 W KCs and it was a couple amperes over the limit of the alternator. With the 55's I should be good to go!
