The lady responded that her husband's crimper is 50 to 100 years old and no longer made.
After looking at the crimps in her blog, I suspect they don't pull back out because they're small enough not to supply much leverage too the pull force of the fence. When I tried making them with a claw hammer, l probably made my crimps too big.

I think I saw an ad for the one pictured in Farm Show decades ago. I didn't think it would be very effective because when I used to crimp slack wire with a claw hammer, the crimps mostly straightened back out. Your enthusiasm for the crimper makes me think I might have been mistaken. I attempted to contact the lady who writes the blog and ask her where her husband got his. If I find out,, I'll pipe up.
