Cool video. I am guessing lower winds and a lower evaporation rate also favor night application.

I remember an excercise at Ft Stewart around 1984 where we had Blackhawks picking up sling-loaded vehicles at night. This was blackout conditions with men under the hovering airplanes hooking up a ground wire, then attaching the sling. They said the pilots were using NVGs (read poor depth perception). The dust kicked up was so charged with static it looked like swirls of fire sweeping off the rotor tips. Awesome.

Wow. Interesting reading and lots of speculation.

Me, I would have done the fireworks displays or possibly taken up some "high" trap shooting. If the guy was as high as he should have been, a shotgun with #8 or #9 shot should have not been a problem even if he hapened to be flying over. Freedom to enjoy ourselves..you know.

On a different note. I have this neighbor that has been around for years and years. I've only owned my farm now for 9. Anyway, I don't have cattle and he leases out his wheat pasture to some cattlemen out of Colo. during the winter. Those cattle sure stink up my place when the wind is certain directions and when they get close to the fence they are only about 50 yards from my house. What in the world should I do???? :) (just kidding, I knew he was a cattleman when I bought the place and I expect him to continue to be one. I guess that's just the smell of money in one respect).

Have a great day and let's all try to be sensitive to our neighbors even if we have the right to do something that might be annoying them them.

That daytime vid was really something. Using my laptop, I was tipping it around to keep the horizon parallel with the floor. Next time I do that I'll remember to bring my barf bag!

Sounds as if the man from Maine ran afoul of a wannabe fighter jock and a few of his elite compadres have joined forces with Top Gun (coming to a neighborhood near you).

Face it, Maine, pilots are an elite group. Do you know what it takes to fly one of those things?
Why ****(slang word for Hades); men with that sort of skill should be able to drop a turd on your house and you should be so awestruck so as to THANK THEM for the visit!

I didn't read every single post so I may be rehashing what one of the other gents may have said:

If you have some way of documenting the number and frequency of the friendly fly-bys, comparing how many there were before and after your talk with the neighbor, you may be able to take legal action on the basis of plain old harassment.

Let the fighter jock wannabes yell their shrill threats about the lawyer they'll get.
Remember, more people are NOT fighter jock wannabes than are. If it came to a civil trial? with a jury of non fighter jock wannabes?

I really feel for your situation
I have a good relationship with my county commissioner, call on yours for help. they can do alot on a local level, also there are noise ordanices even in the county, disturding the peace isn't just in the city.

I had an old nieghbor that was into ham Radio and he installed a tower in his back yard it wasn't pretty but it was every bit of 75 feet tall and the guide wires ran out to his property lines . who know you might enjoy the hobbie.
or plant some very fast trees but its still going to take several years before they can help.

good luck
