Re: Ken\'s search for a \'cheaper\' tractor thread

Hi Ken
It is barely noticable in the middle of a field but much more noticable next to a fence, pond, car, building, etc.
An ORC is a real investment in safety as well as operator comfort. Sounds like you got a great deal.

Enjoy.

Re: Ken\'s search for a \'cheaper\' tractor thread

Good info on that ORC.. they aren't too bad of price.. as low as 36 bucks I've seen.

Might have to shorten the pto shaft.. but that is no big deal either.

That 'two disc plow' is most likely a 2 bottom plow with the 2 leveling discs on the side of the plows.. and if it is.. it isn't too big for your tractor.. th N's were designed to pull the 2 bottom plow.. and were fairly good at it especially with the drift control system. Speaking of draft control, your 9/2n has that only.. no position control.. you may have to rig up check or limiter chains to the top rings next to your toplink to keep the mower from going to low..

A fellow named ZANE makes something called a Zane thang that will convert your draft control to position control... is easy to install too.

If you need the info, let me know and I'll find his web address.

Re: Ken\'s search for a \'cheaper\' tractor thread

Tisco makes a good looking 'near original' light.. but if you are just looking for 12v lights.. look at a TSC store... GE makes a bulb that fits the trac-to-light bracket your N probably has on it.

Re: Ken\'s search for a \'cheaper\' tractor thread

It already has the limit chains on it. I guess I need to look into a ORC.

Thanks
Ken H.

Re: Ken\'s search for a \'cheaper\' tractor thread

That is really a great deal on a 9n with implements. The tractor alone is worth all of that and more if in moderately good condition. I had no success around here finding one in any sort of good condition at a reasonable price. Congratulations! I know you'll really like it.

Re: Ken\'s search for a \'cheaper\' tractor thread

Thanks. I feel that it is in really nice shape for a 60 yr old tractor! Still has original lights on it.. even though they are not working because of the 12v conversion. I will try to get some pictures up Sun when I bring it home. As long as I stop playing... I meaniung using it before it gets dark.

Thanks
Ken H.

That big old two disc plow might just be an old MH breaking plow as they call them around here. It works wonders on breaking up sod!!

Re: Ken\'s search for a \'cheaper\' tractor thread

Sounds like my tractor could use it and that it may be useful. Just not sure if I need it. Probably hang on to it for a little while. Unless I can find someone local that may want to buy it.

Looks good Ken, I think you will be happy with it. That tractro was a very reliable tractor.
