Kentucky Weather AGAIN !!

Rats I just noticed next Tuesday high is 14F and low of Zero is forecast for West KY but we should see some melting next weekend.

I'm glad for the wet layer of snow, otherwise I would had had one **** of an ice rink!

+1 on that. When we went to bed last night our driveway was a sheet of ice, and still raining (so sanding would have been pointless). An inch or so of sleet and freezing temperature this morning, decent traction again.

It is not just KY weather but NC weather too.

Yesterday, Friday, it was 70 degrees and HUMID! When I went to work I wore a light jacket since it was going to rain off and on all day. Stepped outside and it was like being hit with a wet blanket because of the high humidity so I took off the jacket. Leaving work it was so muggy/hot I turned on the AC in the truck! :shocked: On the way home got nailed with some nasty, heavy rain and I think I heard thunder.

Last Friday, we had a high temperature of 26 and a low of -1! :shocked::shocked: The lowest temperature we have had in the last decade was two mornings at 9 degrees and one at 6. Those were in the last two years and they were bad enough but -1! :shocked:

So we had a 44 degree high temperature difference in one week.

Looks like snow next week.

Be careful walking on ice. A coworker has a friend that fell on ice a few years back. Danged near killed the guy. He was in the hospital for a better part of a year and lost the use of his legs. When he fell, his wife tried to help him but she fell and broke bones. They were lucky to have lived.

It is BACK!!!!

Up to 3" new snow by 4am with a low of 5F tonight and sunshine tomorrow with a high of 14F and low of 5F.

Just got the daughter home from work. Looks like a blizzard with the wind and snow. Got to have wife at work at 8am in the morning so I will have to get up early enough to dig out once again. So glad I picked up the 2010 Subaru Forester this past summer. The tires are OEM 17" off of a 2014 Forester at about 50-60% and it is still awesome. I may get a set of snow tires for the 2010 steel OEM wheels that came on the car for next winter if Al Gore is going to reverse Global Warming long term.

I may get a set of snow tires for the 2010 steel OEM wheels that came on the car for next winter if Al Gore is going to reverse Global Warming long term.

I'm curious, what transmission does that Subby have?
My daughter just got rid of hers. Three transmissions in two years. If I remember correctly, I think it was called a CVT or something like that.

The 1-3" forecast turned to 4-7" and there is now about a foot of snow on the hood of my truck. Something about a high pressure caused the storm to stall? Oh well, gonna go out in a few and put the magnetic heater on the Kioti.

My 2010 Forester has the old 4 speed auto with manual mode which is what I use most of the time because I use the transmission to get engine braking so I stay off of the brake pedal at high speeds. On this snow and ice I use the manual shift mode to take off in 2nd for better traction. I thought manually downshifting on the snow/ice might cause traction loss but that has not become an issue so far.

The CVT transmissions came out in 2011-2012 in Subarus I think. I think that is the only automatic they now offer. The manual shifting is done with paddles on the steering wheel I have read.

Looks like our below 20F nights are going away for a while after 3F for tonight and 10F tomorrow night. If we get much rain this weekend I expect to see some flooding but it seems the rain chances are low as of today's weekend forecast.

We picked up 180 pounds of horse food in the Forester and it helped with the ride and traction. I am glad we had it for this storm.

I am ready for spring.

I think this is the first time I had to clear 1"-3" of snow on our road, TWICE.
Going down to 0 tonight. In the 50's this weekend.:confused3:
