yes when they have to blindly place 2/3 of the vehicle out into traffic before they can see vs 1/3 of the vehicle. Parents also back over their children, they don't drive forward over them. it's safer to slow traffic with your brake lights and signal backing in than it is to try and rabbit backwards out into traffic then change direction.

Angle parking must be interesting?

It's how I got hooked on tractors...

When I was older I made a deal with my cousin to do his tractor work... we would make the change just out of view from the farm... he could not have been happier for me to mow and bring in the hay...

As a kid, not quite 5, I practically lived on one of those fender seats watching and asking a lot of questions... can't think of a better childhood spending time on my grandparents farm...

The real question is what is that "convertible" sitting to the left of the tractors?

As a parent I asked myself what was the worst thing that could happen to my child if they did "X". If they wanted to walk on a wall 2 feet off the ground they may get a skinned knee. Ok, good learning experience. What could happen if they wanted to walk on a rooftop? Hmmm, broken neck. Better not let them do that.

Different ages allow different experiences. If you are thinking of what's best for child you never will go wrong. Reminds me of a parent asking me why did I allow my son to own 22lr and 410 at 6 years of age. They said it was dangerous. I said if a child only sees a gun on a video game then they think shooting someone is no big deal because they just shrug it off and keep going. However if they see that if you pull the trigger and take a life, be it a bird or a squirrel, death is permanent. Life is a learning experience and it's up to a responsible parent to teach their children. Different methods for different folks.

I still remember my dad demonstrating the power of a .22LR rifle when I was 4. We went over sight pictures and safety. Those are vivid memories. By the time I was 6 I had fired a .38 special revolver. But I wasn't turned loose with the .22 rifle by my self until I was 12. I could take out the .22 pistol at 13 and by 14 I had a .357 magnum revolver "assigned" to me, and I could take it out hunting any time I wanted, and it lived by my bedside.

Austria...

It was most common for all the old tractors to have fender seats... not just for kids but for transport to the fields.

Kids loved going out to the fields and it was a way to learn and spend time together...

Venture to say that all farm kids spent some time with Dad mowing...

Picture is from a tractor meet with various assorted tractors... even a few Porsche Tractors... Steyer 15.jpgSteyr_15-Ponsold-1.jpgPorsche Side.jpg4 wd Tractor.jpg

Eyeing up that Unimog?

They bring a good price over there... every little town had them for road work... I really like the 3 way dump beds... they tip to the back and also right or left which was perfect for transport of rock for shoulder work...

Pretty much unstoppable with R1 tires, differential locks, high ground clearance and often with winches... not fast but most capable...
