I posted before about the King Kutter box blades.
Through Sunday, however, Atwoods has the 6' standard duty (BB-72-Y) on sale for $422.

I looked up the specs again. It does have the open end pins for the lower hitch arm connections, but the shank housing is a 1/4" thick 4x4 box. The weight is listed at 500 lbs.

Since I can weld, I'm thinking that I could beef up the hitch pin connections and the top hitch connection bars, and possibly add reinforcement behind the slots for the shanks.

Efforts to find either a new or used heavier duty BB locally have failed, and I really don't want to pay $800+ for a new one with probably a big shipping fee.

Anyone have this particular model King Kutter BB ?
How has it performed for you ?

Thanks,
Arky

Yes that's the one I have and so far its been fine no complaints except I paid more than $422 for mine and its a little light, some added weight is handy at times and easy to put on.

I think its built as strong as it needs to be for its size and target market ymmv.

i think i probably have the standard duty model, and i think that it's pretty stout. i've snagged roots w/ it that practically spun the tractor 90 degrees and it is no worse for wear. obviously, anything can be broken if abused, but i've used mine pretty good (moving dirt, grading stone, plowing snow, digging drainage swails w/ blade tilted to max lift link adjustment) the last 4 yrs or so and it works well.
