I would like to get peoples opinions on the King Kutter 60" and 72" Models of finish mowers, I believe these are the brand that are sold at Quality farm and Fleet stores. Thanks
I had a 60" and sold it to a neighbor and now have a 72" I use on my L3010. I used the 60" on my old B2150 and B2910. Very strong, well built and dependable. Never had a problem. Mine get bumped and abused with my rough and tree rooted place. For the money, I highly recommend them.
I had previously posted that my King Kutter moved side to side too much. But I was wrong, the slack was in my 3 point setup. Once I fixed it, it's a nice mower. One thing I think works well is the way it is fully floating, independent of the tractor's ups and downs. You are basically pulling it. That feature might not be apparent by looking at it at the store if the hardware is boxed up.
On all the 3-Pt finish mowers, I think if you could cover up all the manufacturers name plates, paint them all the same color like purple, placed them side by side and hung the mfrs. price tag on them{backwards so you can't see them until the taste test is done}...then...
Just examine the overall fit and finish, weld joints, steel deck thickness, and general quality of construction, etc....
The KingKutter would rank in the top percentage of the best...
When you "flip" the price tags over to view... that should be the deciding factor...$995. vs. $1750...
The question shouldn't be Why is KingKutter so inexpensive?,
... it should be Why are all the others so expensive?...
You have a very good point John. When I bought my first King Kutter I looked at my Kubota dealer and local JD and Massey dealers. I figured I could buy a KK and if it fell apart I could buy another and still not spend what the dealer wanted for their rear mounts. But hey, it never did fall apart and has proven to be very nice. Plus call the factory with a question like when I was putting my rotory mower together and they put you right thru to the guys that build them. Great service!
when i wanted a 6 ft mower for the back of my ford 2n , i was agast at the prices, till i stumbled on the king cutter. much less expensive and very well made.sold it with the ford ONLY because the kubota i bought had a befco mower with it. if i was buying new? for the difference in price would buy king cutter. although the befco is made a tad heavier and simpler to change or adjust belts.
