Well, I could 100% be repeating bad info seen on several videos and from sevwral people; but the manual does specially say 85 gear oil; and makes no mention of a hydralic fluid being an option.

Book says '90w gear oil **or same as Transmission**' ie, the Mobil 424, etc..

Interesting, I'll check this evening. I have however seen several people who suggest early swap at 25/50 to gear oil. Now, they might be wrong, and if I remember right, book only calls for the fluid change at like 200?

@tacticalturnip posted a shot of the book a few posts back

Yeah, I saw that, but im gonna check my book as well, not that I dont believe it, but still gonna look. Also, there are several folks on YouTube that have talked about early replacement of the axle oil, to get that out and switch to gear oil. I'm no petrochemical engineer or lubeatologist

Walmart sells the recommended fluid.

Yep, glad you shared that. Although Kioti doesn't list it this way, my understanding was anything that meets JD20C will work, and Napa/Travellers/whatever often list the JD and Agco specs.

Yep, Kubota udt and JD20c are on the label. AGCO, cnh and Massey too? Must be magical stuff 😋

i would love to see Kioti putting its name on the back of some of these bottles.

It would take some of the cross referencing mystery out of it.

I've got some Travelers in my garage for topping off type stuff.

Times are changing but was not the API (American Petroleum Institute) designed to remove all the quality/miss-representation questions about lubrication products ....by standardizing lubricant grades?

Untitled1.jpg

Would not any API GL-4 be applicable (except for use in hypoid gear designs...... again defined by an ISO standard definition ISO bevel vs hypoid)?

The manufacturer endorsements are ok, but the API GL-4 (or X) grading was designed to be a universal spec for this lubricant?

API Gear Oil Grading

In searching some Kioti manuals it appears the South Koreans have not entirely endorsed the API standards as they prefer to reference their lubricants as something termed UTF 55.....with some additional brand names.

IMHO the API grading is far more understandable.
