Kioti 2554
I'm a happy new owner of a Kioti 2554. I bought it with a bad clutch. I have purchased the kit with disk, plate and bearings ...but while I have done this repair on automobiles in my distant past, I have never done this on a tractor.

I'm looking for a "Workshop Manual" for this model, but have not found one yet.

Is it reasonable to assume that I can figure this out my doing it? I've fixed a lot of things in this life, however, splitting this heavy tractor in half warrants some preliminary caution and careful consideration concerning what's important here, and what happens when ...

I don't know where you would find a workshop manual other than calling kioti, Other's may have a better solution.
Splitting a tractor is a big job but with that aside I would think a sturdy home built jig would help keep everything square and inline as well as safe for separation and realignment.

Besides coming up with something to support safely the two halves at the middle, one for the engine part and one for the rear axle part, you can help the situation greatly by inspecting how the front axle is mated to the tractor and find or cut some taper wedges to insert on each side of the pivot to stabilize the engine from trying to tilt as you break it apart. Your major concern is to have things set up so that a bad move will not cause everything to fall off the jacks and props. Think it through and have at it. Make sure those wedges are secured so they do not wiggle out while you are working the rig apart.

Good advice so far a couple good floor jacks see what size bolts hold it together get a couple longer ones cut heads off and use to aline it this is one time when you wished you didn't have a loader be careful

I have split 3 tractors, 2 Ford N's and a Ford 2000.
It's pretty straight forward.
I used a floor jack, blocks and an engine hoist. Just make sure things are secure as you work.
You can even screw together 2 X's for temporary fixtures.

Never split a tractor but took a pic of mine when JD did my 4310. Not the best picture but maybe it will give you some ideas image-2142702242.jpg Looks like they used a floor jack on the front and a couple jack stands on the back.

Yup, wedges for the front end, two floor jacks and a smooth hard floor so the jacks will roll.
Oh, yeah, a square of plywood on top of the jack pads, so it won't slip off...
You will have to also disconnect any electric wiring and hydraulic pipes too.

I've noticed somewhere among what I've read that perhaps the PTO clutch plate should be replaced while you're in there, along with mention of the main clutch. I don't have any mental picture of that connection but will probably figure it out once I can see the internals. Is that a common practice, or probably unnecessary?

It's quite humbling to have so many people step in to help when I asked for advice.
But then, I suppose it's because tractor guys are passionate about these machines.

)

It's more than a little intimidating, and it means I'll have to clear out a large cluttered garage to find that flat concrete surface ...but I'll be careful. Thanks.

They are all wear items this is a big job and would put all new items in at this time instead of saving a few bucks and then having to do it all over again a little later

This is what I made, it well work on any tractor that is not to low to get it under. I have used it to split my 4240 also.

Wow !!

Leejohn, the Lord has given you a good eye for engineering and problem-solving! What a fantastic tool that is!

To your question about PTO clutch.
It probably has a double disc clutch.
When you push the peddle in half way it disconnects the drive disc, all the way then the PTO disk too.
It might come as a complete kit.
The real trick is to be able to move the two pieces apart while keeping them aligned so they go back together easily.
A floor jack or engine hoist or some other way to roll them apart is a must.
We will need pics when you do it! :)
