You didn't by chance buy that from the dealer in Idaho Falls did ya? That was where I had to drive to in order to see the 7320 in person.

Oh, ok. That makes sense.

I noticed that the 4wd light came on when I pushed the brakes in the 7320 I test drove as well. It is reassuring to hear this is supposed to happen as it almost seemed like some sort of electrical gremlin...the sales guy didn't have an answer for me when I asked about it. It does make sense though. I damned near dumped my current John Deere over when coming down a steep hill carrying a cow on the forks. She made me a little light in the rears, especially after I started down the hill, and I didnt have the front end engaged. The rears didnt have enough weight on the ground to slow me down, I shot down the hill then slowed at the bottom when I leveled out. Major pucker factor! Moral here is always have the front engaged when on any hills!

Absolutely in your case with a cow on the forks. The only real way to stop the forward fly down the hill is to drop the bucket quick when in 2 wd so you can hit the 4wd button.

Actually the proper thing to do would be to back down the hill in the first place. Going down forward without proper ballast on the rear is wrong no matter if it’s a 4 wheel system or not.

I agree with ya paul, that was the decision I came to after the dust settled and the rubber side was still down. I should have backed down it with the load I had. The tractor is fairly heavy...a little shy of 8k with the loader and beet juice in the rears...and felt pretty stable with the load up to that point, but that changed in a hurry once we were pointed down hill! I don't think she would have been enough weight to tip the tractor if I had been in 4wd, but then again....who knows? I do learn from my mistakes and won't be making that one ever again! Maybe, just maybe, someone else out there will read this and can benefit from my mistake as well...it's even better when you can learn from someone else's mistake!

So very true about going down backwards with a big load. I rarely think about that issue as I always have an implement of some sort on the back end for ballast. I also have a steep hill with a 25% incline that I go up and down a lot.
