Landini 1.40 (Kioti/Daedong DK40SE)
Hi all. I'm newly registered here but have had lots of helpful advice from other people's threads over the years, so thanks for that.

I've got a Landini 1.40 which is the same as a Daedong/Kioti DK40SE. I've recently bought a suitable loader to fit which as far as I can tell matches the specs of the KL401 loader pretty well. The loader came without the mounting posts/subframe so I'm planning on fabricating my own.

I'd really appreciate if anyone could share some pictures of the arrangement of the loader mounts on their DK40SE, especially if they also have some dimensions for the steel sections of the upright posts, and the flat bars extending to the rear axle. I contacted a few loader manufacturers and although I think they have info on my tractor none were keen to share any info unless I bought a complete new loader including the mounting hardware, which unfortunately was at least 3x my budget. I'm sure I'm inclined to overbuild but I'd rather not add too much unnecessary weight if I can avoid it.

Thanks

Sam

I can't help, other than to give your thread a bump; that said, seeing a blue Kioti is pretty cool and I absolutely love your Rover!

They are not the simplest thing to make I assume, but I don't see why you can't avoid the angled round tubes and make it with heavy rectangle tubing?
Also compare cylinder sizes and angles to the Kioti loader. It lifts a lot and I assume it must be near the maximum of what the front axle and chassis can handle, so I wouldn't go for more lifting power and probably a bit less would be good for longevity.

Thanks Indylan, that's really helpful. Hard to find exploded diagrams on UK dealership websites.

Yeah that's a good point regarding overloading the front axle. I'm not too worried, I think the loader I've got is a little bit under spec when it comes to max lift, so I should be safe.

I'll avoid the angled round tube I think, but will try to stick to round tube as opposed to square because I think it's better at resisting torque? My loader requires a different style mount upright/pillar, so it will probably be something like 5x1" flat bar

When I built my loader, entirely from scratch, cylinders and everything, I just used the same rectangular tubing I used for the loader arms.

My mounts may look a bit different than most because I have mid mounted ROPS, so that made the base for the mount, pretty much. Anyway, I stacked 3 short pieces of the rectangular tubing together (probably overkill) and then the mount welds on those pieces.

In my case, I ran a support bar from the loader mount to the front of the tractor. This helps provide a better support overall and doesn't push so many forces and stresses in the center of the tractor. I'm not a fan that manufacturer went away with these.

I'll add some pictures just to give some more ideas. The entire build thread is here with lot more pictures: Homemade loader for Branson tractor

Oh, and don't forget the support bars that go under the tractor, from the loader mounts to the rear axle. Very important as well.

Thanks ptsg, that's a good thread. I know what you mean about the front support bar but I would prefer not to have one so that I can still easily remove side panels for servicing etc. What size bar did you use to link to the rear axle?

Also, how's your loader holding up? Looks like you did a great job on the build (y)

I used 80 mm C channel. That's what I had at the time. 80x15 mm flat bar would be a great choice too. Your tractor is pretty much the size of mine.

It's holding up great. I use it to load logs on the dump trailer with the forks, move dirt, tons of dirt. To be fair, it does sit a lot out of the tractor but when I need it, I really need it and gets used a lot.

About the only thing I would change now, was to use smaller bore cylinders. 50 mm instead of 60mm. When I built it, I tried to match, more or less, the capacities of the factory Branson loader. I really don't know why since I never push a loader to the max capacity, maybe 3/4 of the capacity at most. So the smaller cylinders would provide less lifting capacity (I'm good with that) but more speed, which I prefer.

I have a dk45se and the same loader I think its the same frame as the 40. If that would help I'd be glad to take some pictures for you. To be clear you are referring to where the loader frame mounts to the tractor? That it? You want pictures or dimensions of the metal (assuming its a hollow frame, never checked)?

Ok great, thanks. 80x15mm sounds good, I was thinking os something around that size so good to have a sanity check on that. I'll probably mount a lightweight skid plate/sump guard to these bars too, to add a bit of protection from brash etc in the woods.

Glad it's holding up well, looks like you made a brilliant job of it. Ah I see, it's all a balance. I usually find I end up using things to their capacity and it can be a bit hard not to. Say if theres a big log that the digger or tractor will just about lift, but I do feel a bit of mechanical sympathy and keep stuff greased.

That would be fantastic, thanks very much. Yeah exactly, where the frame mounts to the various points on the tractor please. Pics and rough dims if possible. I'll have a different arrangement to yours for the vertical post, but will have similar plates to mount to the tractor. If you could measure the plate thickness and especially the dimensions of the flat bar going to the rear axle mounts. Thanks again

Here's a pic of the loader lined up with the tractor. It was a bit of a relief to see that it is actually the right size for the tractor.

Looks about the perfect size for the tractor. It matches pretty well.

I have pics and a couple of videos. I will add the pictures here, but this site doesn't allow Video's unless its from youtube or similar. I have a onedrive folder I can send you the link to it and after you have it I will delete it. OneDrive is microsoft's web storage area.

As for thicknesses . The loader side rails (where it is on the outside of the tractor are 10mm. The rail that goes towards the back of the tractor and mounts to the back axle is 12mm on the inside brace nearest the tractor it's 19mm (see picture thickness1). The rails that run from the back axle to the loader mounts mid tractor are 228 Cm long and is 12mm thick. There is a video of that against a tape measure/ruler if you want it. just message me with an email address for it if you want it.

Picture thickness2 is illustrating that its about a meter high and made of 12mm steel.

That really is very helpful, thank you very much. I'm hoping I'll be able to get down to the local steel supplier tomorrow morning, so this came just at the right time. I'll send you a pm with my email address for the video link. Thanks again, very much appreciated.
