Update..

So I dug out the title a few days ago and it lists GVWR at 7,700 lbs. The trailer weight is 1,700 lbs so this hauler is a true 3 ton trailer unless I'm missing something.

Anyway, I appreciate all the help. I was not comfortable with the prospect of ruining the tires and stranding myself so I borrowed a suitable trailer from a friend.

I think you made a wise choice. You're chances of making the trip with your other trailer were good but it's a big investment to have "go bad" while transporting it. I don't know what you have for insurance on your tractor but if it's just your homeowners then there's a real good chance that the second you leave your house you are no longer covered, just a FYI.
