Kioti DK40SE with FEL and filled tires on my 3 ton car trailer?

Just as a follow up nothing like running 75 MPH with 17,000 lbs at 95 degrees. Knowing you bought you bought the best. Also sending wife and kid on long trip knowing tires will be there last problem ( I Hope ) For 20 years Michelins and no problems.

I had mine maxed out. My dealer and I found that by rolling the bucket to full dump and resting that on the front rail of the trailer it balanced out the best. We cinched the bucket to the trailer rail along with all the other tie downs. It did a 70 mile trip this way, was unloaded then loaded back up and taken to my property another 120 miles.

The trailer may have two 3500 lb axles = 7000 GVWR. As someone mentioned the trailer may weigh in the 1800 lbs range leaving 5200 for a max payload available on the trailers axle/tires.

I had the same issue with my FT60 (50 hp Farmtrac) with filled 14.9-28 R-1s/fel and a 6' Rhino mower on a old 7k trailer with two 3500 lb axles with D tires at 2540 lbs and one axle braking. The trailer had a added 5" wrap around front frame but was still overloaded as the tractor/fel/mower weighs in the 7000 lb range.

Sold the little 7k trailer and bought a 10k trailer with two 5200 lb axles and 16" E tires. Scaled weight with the tractor/fel/mower with the new trailer is 9600 lbs on the axles and about 950-1050 on the truck. Much safer. Those much bigger brakes on the 5.2k axles stop the load with ease.

While it may be good to position the tractor to get as much weight as can safely be put on the hitch, it is even more important to balance the weight equally on the 2 axles. When you are running close to the tire/axle limits or slightly over, then you want each tire and axle to be carrying the same share of the load, so that one is not more overloaded than another. If you start pushing a lot of weight forward you may end up with more on the front axle than the rear depending on the type of suspension and other factors. You don't want to end up with 60/40 or even 55/45. Right now it seems like you might be having more weight on the rear axle since you say the rear tires were more "dented" with the load on. If you back on it may go the other way. You can only do so much because you're constrained by the geometry of the trailer and the suspension setup. Better to have the overload balanced equal between the 2 axles than worry about the tongue weight, unless of course the tongue is so light it might cause unstable towing. Is the trailer hitched level?

Maybe you can load the bucket in the truck bed; take it off and lift it in with some nylon straps before you load the tractor.

I wanted to get E load tires but they couldn't find them in their system.

My new tires are radial.

The FEL is going to have bucket hooks welded on but it might make sense to leave the entire thing here at the farm and have them welded on near us somewhere.

I can back the tractor on the trailer to put more load on the truck.

With the FEL removed I will have a much easier time coming closer to centering the load.

Did anyone see the picture of the tractor on the trailer? It looks like a football player in a child's wagon.

Perhaps I need to do the 50 hr service myself. The dealer told me at purchase they'd do it for cost or there abouts. $200.00

No new trailer for awhile, I need another tractor LOL

Is there a place with a truck scale nearby? At some places if you don't need a weigh slip you can just drive over the scales for no charge. Just stop and get a weight as each axle gets on the scale, the differences between the weights is the weight on each axle. That'll give you a good idea how far over the tire, axle, spring, and brake ratings you might be. Even if they charge it should be under $10.

I would suggest buying 4 new E Load tires for trailer. Sell 2 of your C loads on craglist and keep 2 of them for spares. Also if you only pull tractor a few miles at low speed and temps. Keep what you have drive slow and make sure you have a spare or two.
His trailer looks to be almost new. Putting 4 load range E tires on would cost him over $800. I would trade that one in on a new one and likely wont cost a lot more than just swapping tires. You still are looking at 3500 # axles which is going to be the limiting factor with larger tires.
I bought my 20 foot carhauler with 4 foot beavertail, with 6K axles and brakes on each axle, spare tire, super heavy front jack, slide in rear ramps and break-away safety for $3150 delivered to the house.

Your tractor with loader and fluids is just south of 6,000 lbs and the trailer is 1,800 lbs min. I think the tires are telling you something.

When he loads the tractor he'll if it's over weight for the axles if, he looks at the springs. They will be flattened out and the center pivot will be up against the trailer frame. That's how I knew I was over my axle weight.. I then weighted the trailer 2800#. I up graded the axles

You have about the same trip I have to my parents for mowing and maintenance.

I have a NH TC40D with filled tire. I max out my trailer(7k) with the tractor and loader. Your are most likely overweight.

Your manual should say what the weights of the tractor, and filled tires are.

Tough boat to be in. I can't afford a bigger trailer right now. I need to bump from 16' 7klb to at least 20' 10klb; 22 or 24' would be better for when I haul my tractor with mower.

Where's the trailer fairy when you need one :D

I believe my tractor weighs 3,924 lbs but the rears are filled and the FEL is on there as well.

Whatcha think? I have a 40 mile + ride to the shop next week and don't need to create any disasters. :)

I looked at your picture again: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...your-towing-rigs-trailers-20140121_123456.jpg

It's pretty obvious that (1) the weight is way too much on the rear and (2) the trailer is not close to being level. Try backing it on, that should help a lot, or at least try resting the bucket on the A-frame.

The way it is in the picture the whole tractor is sitting just about directly over the tandems and the loaded rear tires are almost back to the dove tail with hardly any weight on the front of the trailer.
