I'm probably going to go look at an NX4510 HST Cab today...dealer says he can get any of the NX series in about 5 days, but we were only talking cab models. Was your dealer talking just open station?

My dealer said that they wouldn't order a DK45SE HST Cab unless someone specifically requested it...felt they were a bit sluggish when running the A/C and bigger implements. I haven no personal experience with that model (ran a DK50SE HSTC for a bit), but that's what they said.

Open station only. I ended getting the dk50se hst open. Kioti did another run of three in the NC plant should have it in 3 weeks

My DK50 is cabbed and, I must admit, there are days I wish it was open. On the other 98%, I'm happy to not be breathing dust, diesel fumes or chemicals, enduring the blazing sun and extreme heat - or cold - swatting at angry wasps or hungry mosquitoes. The cab is also quieter and I can tune in my favorite radio stations. There are drawbacks to be sure - low hanging limbs for one. All-in-all, however, having a cab was a good decision for me.

If I remember right the Kioti is built heavier than the L48, coming from a heavy equipment background this tractor has impressed me. I have pulled quite a few stumps with the grapple on mine so I can imagine a few pine stumps will be no problem for a 50 TLB. CJ

I bought a Kioti DK40SE HST Cab tractor, primarily for snow blowing. I'm located in a similar snow region (central Maine) and moving snow is always an issue. I bought the tractor with a 6' PTO driven front mount snow blower. I have only 52 hours on the tractor, and for all but 7 or 8 hours it was blowing snow. My former snow blower was an 8' rear mount on a JD 6400. After using the Kioti this past winter, I'll never use a rear mount blower again. Now that warm weather is here and the blower is not on the tractor, I am looking for hydraulic driven attachments for my loader frame. That is where horsepower becomes an issue. If you compare the DK40, DK45, and DK50 specs. The major difference is PTO horsepower. The lift capacity is the same for all three models. So, I wish I had bought the 45 or 50, for the extra PTO output. All else is pretty much the same. I'm pleased with the Kioti DK40SE. I particularly appreciated the cab when snow clearing in zero degree weather. I think you'll be pleased with a Kioti DK50SE HST. As for the backhoe attachment, I had a Woods 1050 for my JD and sold it. It worked OK but I would rather rent an excavator, when I really have to dig. Leaving the backhoe seat and climbing into the tractor cab to steer or move the tractor was a real pain, IMO, and I decided against keeping the backhoe. Without a cab, a backhoe attachment is OK is much easier to use.

Well, I finally got the tractor delv yesterday after 5 weeks. It is a tank. I dug out three large stumps with the backhoe and then the right BH lever flopped sideways and is now sitting at an angle. Unfortunately today is Sunday and I cannot call the dealer. Any idea what this could be?

Remove the boot on the lever. Most likely a pin has come out. Can't be serious.

Had a similar problem with mine and I ended up just tightening up the allen screws on the controls they were quite loose after 1 day of use. Works like a charm now.

For any serious stump removal an excavator is the way to go. But, I've removed hardwood stumps, up to about twelve inches in diameter, with a Woods 1050 on a John Deere 6400. The soil condition and species of tree stump have a lot to do with how large a stump your tractor/backhoe will remove. If the stumps are large, say two feet or more, and the soil covers large boulders, or even ledge, you need at least a 15ton excavator, with a rugged thumb, to successfully break the large roots and lift/pull the stump out of the ground. The alternative is to dig down to the roots and cut them off with a saw or axe, before you try to move the stump.

The first time you tackle a big old maple stump, with a large tap root, you'll wish you had rented an even larger excavator. Twenty tons, or larger, is reasonable. If the stump is fresh cut, you'll be amazed at how heavy it is. Once you have it out of the ground, the excavator, with hydraulic thumb, will prove a lot more useful than a dozer, at loading the stump onto a trailer, or into a dump truck.

There are several stumps, around the farm, that need to come out, and I'm planning ahead, so that I don't waste expensive equipment rental time. I have an old Cat D4 and have used it to move stumps, but i quickly tired of trying to dig stumps out with it. So, i'm looking forward to a weekend using a 20 ton excavator.

Enjoy the stump pulling. It is a whole lot easier, and safer, if you have fun doing it.

I definitely see what you are talking about. I dug a few stumps already. Some 12" hemlock and double hemlock and it was a bit of work. Luckily I do not have that many of those sized stumps.
Let me ask you this. I encountered two problems while digging with the BH. My fan hit the rad shroud and the fluid overheated causing failure of two orings by the pump. The second was my fault since I left the lever in the b position occasionally while repositioning the tractor. This all happened within 10 hrs. Do you think this caused any long term damage to the pump or the frame?

I don't know what to think about the fan hitting its shroud. It must have taken a fairly good thump to deflect the shroud onto the fan.

My only experience with a backhoe, on a Kioti, was on the old twenty hp one I had a few years ago. It had a standard transmission. I'm not sure what lever you are referring to, when you indicate it was left in the wrong position while moving the tractor.

My only recent experience with a Kioti was this past winter - snow removal. Its a 40hp HST with cab, and I managed to escape winter with the tractor pretty much unscathed. I did manage to break the snowblower a couple of times. I think I have that out of my system now, and am hoping not to break anything this summer.

Generally speaking, I think the Kioti is a well made machine, and it is able to do a lot of work within its power range. Continued heavy loading, hydraulic or mechanical, certainly can take its toll if the machine is running hot.

I hope the repairs are simple and not painful on the pocketbook.
