I understand the T-Shirts Rick had were some years ago.
Dargo, it's called attack advertising or negative advertising. I agree with you, and in it's worst form it's used for political campaigns. There, the attack is usually on the person rather than the ideas, so in my mind you have sunk pretty low.
Unfortunately, polls show attack ads work. I'm running an election campaign this summer, but I will resist all forms of negative ads for both my campaign and my friends who are also running.

Good luck with that. What you are referring to is an Ad Hominem attack. It is directed at the person rather than the assertion made.
In the new U.S., people do not practice reason and logic, rather, they rely on the new sciences of emotional intelligence and simple "understanding". Compromise and conformity are praised while individualism is chided and scoffed. If Canada is declining as fast as the U.S., you should use the ad hominem attack. It is truly effective and has worked for hundreds of politicians in the U.S. The "dumber" the population, the easier it is to get by with such attacks.
Although I would hold you in high regard for refraining from unscrupulous behaviors, some people do not have such standards. I truly wish you luck.
