Kioti NX6010 vs John Deere 4720

Dieselbound,
Thanks for all your comments, lot's to think about! Sorry to hear you busted your linkage, that sucks....

I'll have to check out the implement forum, I'm leaning towards woods attachments just because I can make a package deal with the Kioti.

For what ever reason I was thinking that Kapper's BH26 was a 60" not 6' cutter, I guess I should have read his post more closely. (i.e. 9 or 10 times instead of only the 4 or 5 :))

That's definitely a good point about loader attachment weight, I'll have to look at that more closely! I also like that grapple, everything attachments seems to have a lot of good products and that is one of the grapples I have been looking at.

I'm surprised that I didn't majorly screw up more spelling, that's one of my major downfalls.....:( Also why I don't post very often. Thanks for straightening me out!

Definitely go with Woods if you can get a good deal! I keep a look out for Woods stuff. My box blade is a Modern Ag and I think it's the equal to a Woods; one of the few things that this could be said about.

I had my dealer quote me with a grapple (I typo'd and told him 50" instead of 5'!) and a set of pallet forks. I can't remember what they have there, it looks decent, but it's not in the class of Woods. The cost was more than what I paid for the EA stuff, and the EA stuff had shipping charges.

I had thought that Kapper had a 7' cutter. I see that it's a 6-footer. Thought I might be getting things mixed up with EricTheOracle, but a quick check shows he's running a 6-footer as well. So, there you have it, if the "big boys" (with NX6010s) are running 6-footers then that's the right size. I've got 7' in my head because I'll be looking to get a 7-foot flail; and, I'm currently running a 5-foot rotary with my dinky B7800. Just kind of thought that the NXs could run 7-footers; I suppose that they could, like my B7800 can run a 5-footer, but not full blast through heavy brush.

The reason why the misspelling drew my attention is because "barrow" is what a young in-tact male pig is! (if you used this out around some pig folks you'd likely get some interesting reactions :D) Don't let this keep you from posting. (your grammar and spelling looks pretty much fine to me) Always strive to be better!

I run a 8 foot rotary cutter behind my 5510. I had a 6 foot that I used on my old tractor and it just wasn't big enough for the nx.

Whoa! Now we're talking! :D But, are you doing any brush with it?

Kapper, will you be getting a Backhoe attachment for the kioti?

Well, DieselBound covered the pallet forks pretty well. I still prefer HD for anything that moves, or anything that moves earth! (which is pretty much ANY attachment :). However, with that said, I went with a 'standard' 4 in 1, but made by an exceptional company. It is WR Long inc. For the reasons DieselBound mentioned, the overall weight. But when it comes to a mower or tiller, the HD will only add a nominal amount of weight, but will be way tougher and harder to break/bend... I keep ALL of my implements at 6 footers, or basically as wide as the tractor. That way, you will always know your width, and you will always cover your tire tracks regardless of if your going forward or reverse. If you back drag or smooth, you don't want to leave tracks. If you mow thick ***** stuff in reverse, you want to cut it before it cuts your tires! If you are digging a tunnel through a big dirt pile (just did this yesterday), you want the bucket to cut a path so the tractor can fit through. When you are tilling, you don't want to leave tire tracks. When you are mowing forward and going through a tight slot, if you have the same size mower, than you know the mower will fit through the same opening as the tractor! This stuff mainly applies to more tight space activity, unless you are a farmer perhaps and are mowing a big hay field, then the widest mower you could get might be better. But from my experience, stick with everything that is the width of your tractor. You asked about the width of the Kioti, honestly I don't recall, but it is about 6' to 6'5 give or take. The 6' tiller just barely cuts the tracks, but it works perfect. Just yesterday I got stuck really bad in the edge of my pond doing some dirt work... BAD juju for sure! Watch for that video, as I taped the whole thing :(. Anyway, I was nearly tipping with the Kioti, and I feel pretty strongly that the More narrow and higher sitting tractor would have put me at much greater risk of tipping over. You have the right idea when buying, put a package deal together and they'll give you a better deal. I financed mine also for 5 yrs, it's just easier that way to lump the implements in to your initial purchase. With your budget you should be able to get the implements you really need first! Oh, and for now I am not planning on getting a back hoe. I'm sure I could use it, but it would not justify the cost. I could rent one for a day if need be. Good luck!

Well now, isn't this just f*#@ng nice.... I almost tipped into the lake.. Pretty sure that the more narrow and higher sitting tractor would have been in the drink....

Yes I've cut plenty of heavy thick stuff cut up to 2" saplings and such, but i mostly use it for pasture. But as kapper stated if you do much in tight areas or such you may be better off with something not much if any wider then your tracks.

How many sets of remotes were you planning on getting (now is the best time to get them!)?
I'm not convinced that a finish mower for a typical yard/lawn is going to work out well on that size tractor.
You might do a quick internet search for a few key implement items to see whether the package price quoted is really competitive or not (remember to account for shipping, where applicable).
When I bought my cabbed DK45 in 2006, I bought a basic suite of implements, all in 6' width (brush mower, bucket, snow blower), then added more stuff as I identified the need (grapple-rake, carry-all, wood chipper, hydraulic auger, bale spear, riding-arena groomer (8'), box blade (7')). This spread out the cost impact over more time and let me get a better feel for just what I needed (with TBN insights and advice!) before leaping into a purchase.
