Kioti NX6010 vs John Deere 4720

Man, I would have taken your word for it on the stability vs the JD, you didn't have to demonstrate it! LOL

How did you make out? Did it end up in the drink? My guess is that you ended up leaving it right there until you recruited another set of hands. Just this summer I got a mini X stuck on the edge of a pond, it doesn't look to bad from the pic but it took a BIG farm tractor to yank it out. Mud creates a lot of suction.....

Good point about implement width, that makes a lot of sense!

rd_macgregor,
I was thinking one set of rear remotes. Can another set be added later or do I need to get them up front?

I like the idea of having a hydraulic top link but the only reason I can think of that I would use 2 sets for is operating the shoot on a snowblower.

You can always add remotes later, but if you buy with the tractor and are financing you can roll it all in on one price, plus the dealer will usually install them at purchase for no added charge.

A second remote is very useful, for example for a tilt cylinder for a box blade or to run hoses to the loader for a grapple, etc. The first remote would be for the top link, which is the primary control for a box blade. If the dealer has to install the first remote (not there from the factory) installing a second remote at the same time is easy. If you haven't already signed the papers you may be in a good position to negotiate a deal.

Supplemental: The top link hydraulic cylinder is handy, even with a mower. If I raise the mower all the way with the top link extended (as for normal mowing) the PTO shaft binds against the mower deck when it's near the top. Retracting the top link cylinder prevents this.

OK guys, you have me convinced. Two remotes it is. I think he told me $500 per set of remotes which seemed steep.

What about engine block heater? It gets cold where I live do any of you have block heater? Do I need one?

I ordered THREE remotes on mine. $1,200. TNT AND another to run any hydraulics on the implement: I'm going to have an hydraulic side shift on any flail that I get; hydraulically controlled rippers on a box blade would be nice (but I am not sure I'll ever be able to afford one of these box blades!); there's also rear blades with hydraulic angle shift.

Last summer I got an Bobcat 331 (9k lb excavator) stuck. I'd been deepening and widening a ditch. I worked down one side and then hopped over to the other side to work it from there. I got horribly stuck and the only way "out" was to go back out through that ditch, the ditch that is now wider and deeper! Pasture side that I needed to return to was stable enough to have my truck on it and I winched (manual) off of it. Oh, and while thrashing about I looked out and saw the bucket pin walking out- had I not spotted it I might have lost it DEEP in the mud and been screwed (what little grab I had with the bucket was just enough to help crawl my way back out across that ditch). Needless to say, when I rent the bigger excavator (18k lbs) I don't get anywhere near soft ground!

Haven't watched Kapper's video yet. Scares me to think about getting my NX stuck: my B7800 isn't a stranger to wallowing in mud (fortunately I haven't gotten in stuck in about 2 1/2 years).

I wish I had 4 remotes; one dedicated to the grapple and auger (via extension hoses to the FEL), two for top and tilt and one available for snowblower chute rotation or whatever else I might need. It is hard to have too many remotes. They can be added later, but, if you can get a deal as part of a new tractor purchase, now is the time to do it.

I've been "living" with ZERO remotes on my B7800! This is going to be a whole different ballgame!

Just for thought, as far as towing I have on occasion towed my dk45 with loader and rhino 95 backhoe that pushes 7000lbs and had no trouble towing short distance with a 84 blazer with a 6.2 in it , anyone that knows the 6.2 could tell ya it's no powerhouse, not even close.i don't think u would have any problem with your truck as long as your not traveling mountains.
