I have been doing some research for some time now and I have narrowed my product selection down to Kioti or Mahindra. Due to price and customer ratings. I recently got some quotes with tax for three Kioti models CK20,25 and 30. Unfortunatly the CK20 is the only one that I can afford, and I'm already over budget. So I do not want to push myself already going to have to sleep on the couch and eat cheese and bread sandwhiches for a month or more. Anyway here are the prices I got. They are for the Gear tranny, Ind Tires with FEL delivered, about 25 miles

CK20 $12,714
CK25 $14,758
CK30 $16,529

Now I was told that Kioti is offering a $300 rebate if pay in full up front. So I can take few hundred off those numbers.

Now here is project scope of use:

7 acre farmett, that needs to be built a 36x30 pole building and 24x48 horse barn (roughly) 6.5 acres are field/pasture, not fenced. Create a gravel road about 50' long 7ft wide. Landscape is a rolling hill with mainly a flat slope to it.

Now here is what I think I will need to do:

Move dirt and rock with FEL
Dig roughly 250 post holes with a PHD for fence
Mow the pasture and surrounding yard.

Now here are the things I do not want to do:

Get something used, I have too many projects to do not including the ones above, I do not want to fix something on the weekends when it is my only time to work around the property.

With all that being said. Can the CK20 do the job utiliizing the correct size implements that are rated for the CK20. What about the LK series tractors? Is the price on those models less or about the same. Or am I kidding myself? From others the CK20 seems to be a little Warthog and has done everything they have asked it to do. Other have stated it would be great to have the 25hp in that frame.. Anyways.. can some of you guys suggest your thoughts on the matter.

Thanks

The CK20 is an awesome little machine. It will do the tasks you want done, but you will have to realize that the machine is limited by its size. At roughly 21hp, and roughly 15hp at the PTO you will be limited to a 4' rotary cutter (brush hog) and even at that you'll be going slow if you are cutting down any woody plants, saplings, etc. It will finish mow what you want to finish mow, it is well sized for a 4' finish mower. It will grade what you want to grade, but with 48" implements. It will easily handle a Post Hole Digger without a problem. I really like the CK20, I'd like to see you go larger but your budget stands in the way. I am on the record as a critic of the CK25 (without ever being on one) that is mainly do to issues with physical size and PTO hp limitations (I see no sense in having to be hobbled by small implements on a big tractor due to the limits of PTO hp). The CK30 is a great tractor, can't take anythign away from it, but again it is over your price range.

You might want to stay with the CK20 and consider RENTING a big piece of equipment OCCASIONALLY. I have a backhoe for the rear of a Kubota B2910 and last year I rented a track hoe becuase I needed a large hole dug. I dug my hole in about 4 hours, it would have taken 2 or 3 weekends to do the same with the B2910/Great Bend hoe combination! And the rental fee was about $165 from noon on Saturday to 8am Monday (including delivery & pick up). It might be worth your while to consider the occasional rental as needed, it would allow you to get the CK20 and use it for the majority of your work, but maybe not for 100% of it???

You may be able to bargain a little more on those price. I paid more than $1,000 less than your CK30 quote and I got HST. Of course, it would still be over your budget. Most of the Ck20 owners here will probably tell you it can do what you need, of course you would get it done faster with a 25 or 30. Like Bob said, renting is always a viable option.

I think the things you listed the CK20 will do without any problem at all. I personally love my CK20HST, would I like more HP? heck yeah... who wouldn't but when it came to price and what I got for the price I couldn't beat it at all. I love the tractor it does everything I toss at it. The front end loader is not built for digging (none are) but it will move into a pile of dirt or rocks and move them about without any problem. Hard packed ground well it doesn't do as good but I am told teeth on the bucket makes a world of a difference for that. Post holes with a post hole digger you will make quick work with that also. As far as turning a brush hog as the previous poster said... I haven't personally used one yet on my machine but I have seen a 5 foot brush hog being turned and used without much complaint on the CK20. Now they were not cutting small trees down with it but they were moving through sticker bushes. The dealer I got mine from said Kioti recommends a smaller brush hog 52 inch but does also have the larger 60 inch one that works with them also. The 60 inch is a lot for the 15hp PTO once you get into thicker things to cut but it didn't stop the tractor. I too questioned about the LK series when I was looking. I didn't like the LK as much as the CK due to the older design. The CK felt so much better to sit on and personally I am very happy that was my choice. Complaints about the CK20 are easy things to live with... the tool box is a joke small plastic box that holds the pins maybe a screw driver or two and a pair of pliers past that you would be pushing it. Fuel tank location behind the seat... the seats on the backhoe and the drivers seat rub on it from time to time... doesn't cause any real problems just rubs on the paint wearing the paint. Torque when in high gear is almost non-existent but tons of power in low (Basically like starting out in 3rd or 4th gear so understandable have a HST).

Now 6 months, 85 hours with 300+ yards of earth moved, 25+ stumps from 4 inches to 22 inches across, dragging trees around the yard, pulling my truck out of muck, leveling a half acre lot... the only thing that has been a problem was a fitting on the backhoe that was cross threaded and started leaking at 70 hours (warranty repair). I would have a lot more time on the tractor but with rain and a very sloped yard I haven't really used it much in the last 4 months except to move a couple dumpsters tear out a wooden fence and pull up some concrete.

I would be lying if I didn't say I totally enjoy my machine... the biggest thing I say about the new purchase is get a dealer you like!! Also see if you can get them to toss in either the full 50 hour service or at least the filters for the 50 hour service as that time comes to pass rather quickly at least it did for me.

Thanks, for the replies, the dealer told me somewhat of the same speil, but he is a dealer and a sales man is a sales man. Anyay,, from what it sounds it will do the job, it will just take a little more time and effort then the other two models.

KO yeah those prices are "with TAX out the door" the dealer said... Now I'm not planning on doing anything till the later part of this month, I have gone out to talk to him and test drove a ck20hst FEL so maybe my persistant calling may reduce the price, or maybe not.

yeah I will also see if he can throw in the 50 hour service.

Thanks,

Does anyone know, well I guess I can call around tomorrow if the cost of the Kioti tractors goes down the closer you get to the North Carolina plant?

Thanks again,

I would think that it has to be somewhat cheaper due to shipping charges. I know that up here in the Northeast, we take a hit on shipping and delivery time. Gerard

Look at the LK series. I have the 30 horse shuttle shift, and have done everything you need to get done, and much much more. I paid only 15 K, and it included FEL, 5' rotary mower, box blade, post hole auger, rotary tiller.

Well surprise-surpise the further south you call; closer to North Carolina, the price does appear to drop. I think I will be taking a little drive and see what turns up.

I did think something was odd, when I was on the phone getting quotes, I did hear them say "list on this tractor is x" but when I called the next guy and he said "list on this tractor is x" it was different? Something wasn't adding up.

Anyway, I did find a dealer that appeared to want to go the extra mile for my business, so I think I may pay him a visit this weekend.

Thanks again,
