Kioti vs Tym compact

I would be kind of leary of the hilly WV terrain and the 2 range tranny. You will most likely be relegated to low range for all of your chores because High will not have enough power to pull the tractor up a hill. Not sure what kind of terrain you have and it may not even matter, or affect you. Kioti would have a real keeper if they had a 3 range tranny in the CK20, IMHO.

Both tractors that he is looking at are 2-speed transmissions, so either way that is what's available. Plus with the higher top speed of the TYM (10.5 mph vs. 9.3mph) it will be even harder to work in high gear compared to the Kioti.
I use my high gear plenty for loader work when the backhoe is not attached, with the backhoe on it's pretty slow going unless your on a relatively flat area. Even with a tractor that has a 3-speed tranny, why would you want to go fast on hilly terrain anyways...?

I would not make it the only factor but there is no doubt that a two speed HST is less flexible than a three speed. To my knowledge only Kubota has put a three speed into a 20 something HP CUT. The new B series with three speed might be a good choice especially if mowing in hilly areas was a primary mission. I would point out that the Kioti and TYM have significantly stronger loaders than the equivalent Kubotas as well as being considerably less expensive so the gearing issue would need to be balanced against these other factors in choosing. I'm sure that with Kubota adding the three speed that others will be forced to follow in the near future but as far as I know only Kubota offers three speed HST in less than 30hp CUTs today.

got a decent quote on a B2320, but the trade-in and financing did not meet up to the CK20HST quote. Will be checking out the Kioti on Tue... could be good:cool:

Keep that about the trade-in in mind when you buy this one too. I know some of the guys don't want to hear it but the Kubota resale/trade-in value down the road will be a lot higher than the other brands. A bunch of people say I'm buying this one to keep forever... then turn around within a few years and buy another.

Yep what you save on the front end by buying non-big 3 you probably lose on the back end if you have sell. But, I'd rather lose on the backend and keep more of my money longer, especially if I'm getting more tractor to boot. Of course, non-big three might be harder to sell even at a reduced price. All depends on how they perform.

Maybe if we are lucky, brands like Kioti will gain equal respect and we'll actually get more than we paid for them, much like Kubota of years ago. It is a tradeoff. Some prefer the minimal risk path; others want best bang for the buck and are willing to take some risk to get it. Time will tell with these brands.

I do like that Daedong has allowed Bobcat to rebadge Kioti, from a consumer's point of view. However, the Kioti dealers I'm sure are none to happy about it. I guess Daedong's position is that they only want top-notch dealers- ones that can sell enough and provide good service. By adding Bobcat, I believe they think they are adding more top-notched dealers. But, I'm also sure not all Bobcat dealers are top-notched either. For us current owners, the more Daedong tractors and the more Daedong dealers the better we are for it.

I'd go with what makes the most sense on the most points now vs. what you might be able to recoup down the road. Thsat avenue is much riskier than ever with the state of our economy and the value of the dollar now and in the future. I'd want the most tractor, closet dealer with best reputation and best warranty throughout, which is clearly the Kioti 4 year on tractor, 1 year on implements. Also, 0% may seem like the best deal but is often more about what the manufacturer wants to move than what teh consumer may desire.
I suggest at least looking at the DK series Kioti tractors too- they are bulletproof and can do just about anything a homeowner, small business owner needs.
Good luck. Post back your decision:)

I dont know if anyone can predict 15 or 20 years into the future with who will be where in economics. Just look at Chrysler and GM. Both would be belly up now if not for government bailouts. The Chinese/Korean brands might be the only ones made in a few years. Look at the stats now on small tractors sold by "USA manufacturers" I dont think there is a single one that is made in USA by the parent company. They are all outsourcing their product. Perhaps in 10 years, the outsourcing companies will be well know enough to just sell their brand in the states (THINK LG) and forgo the John Deere green or the New Holland blue. Kubota has not been in the US market that long, maybe 30 years and look at them now. I remember when they first sold in the states and it was like buying a TYM or some other lesser know tractor. They were cheaper than the other Big 3 at the time and well made so they now own a big share of the market.
