Kiss principle Buying new or old Compact TLB?

/ Kiss principle Buying new or old Compact TLB? #21
Hello All I'm looking to buy a Compact tlb. I've ruled out Mahindra and John Dear machines. Id like to buy a used one low hours and less than 10 years old ...If I can't find a reasonable priced one then Ill buy new .My focus is simplicity , Id like to get a machine that has little to no electronics in it. Is there such a machine? There are a lot of seasoned tractor owners here so I'm hoping ill get some good info to make a good decision . I'm 63 a retired Millwright I can fix most things mechanical hydraulic machining welding etc. I don't want software to deal with or proprietary BS .... did that for the last 25 years in the work place .So far I have been watching some reviews on youtube, it looks like kubota ,but it has issues to . So guys which machines have the least problems and are owner friendly.

I live just out side of Belleville Ont if anyone has what I'm looking for Id be interested in talking.

Thank you in Advance John

Sure if you can wait 7 months that might work out.

I "waited" 2 years to find my previous Ford TLB, then kept it 33 years.
Being in a rush might be a good idea though.
That way you will get to buy a second TLB, when you find what you really want.

All depends on what work you need to get done, and how long it can wait.

I used to be better at waiting. Driving around looking at used machines is fun sometimes, but it really wears me out.:(

If something is going to make my life easier, I'll buy new, rather than wait.(If it's affordable.) This is especially true for hard to find items.
The sooner I get it, the longer I get to use it.

I only buy tractor stuff purely to play with.
These days, buying used is the only way to get equipment without pollution garbage.
Even at my age I have learned to be patient.
Buying new at $20K+ more, than low time used, is just something I would not be able to bring myself to do.
My 250 hour 2006 L48 TLB (equivalent) would have cost $20K+ more if new.

Only Kubota makes a true TLB these days. There is a huge difference between a TLB that is made for the stresses of a loader and backhoe versus an Ag tractor that has a loader and backhoe mountable as accessory implements.
Not that you can't do good work with either, but as part of your research you ought to go look at how differently TLBs and Tractors are designed from the ground up.

There all sorts of makers of TLB’s, I can think of 5 off the top of my head. Kubota is unique in that they also have the ability to take the backhoe off and add a 3 point. I often read where people don’t use the 3 point ever.

I have never taken the Backhoe off my JD 110. Keep thinking I will some day.

Kubota is the only manufacturer of a real compact TLB. A tractor with a backhoe attachment isn’t even close to the same thing as the Kubotas. And an 8 ton full size backhoe isn’t either. The full size is way too big for most homeowners and is seriously lacking in versatility that the compact TLB offers. I had a 310 and traded it for my M59. The 310 would dig circles around the M59 but was seriously lacking in options.
