Had my second knee replacement on Friday. Forgot how much pain there is to heal. Will be interesting, I'm the only driver here.

Good luck. If you forgot about the amount of pain, you may have forgotten that the worst is about 2 weeks after. The pain causes you not to sleep, but the pain killers cause you to have bad sleep. The lack of quality sleep builds up. But since, you're doing the second one, you know that in the end it will be a lot better!

Hope the pain eases. Just remember the knee pain you had that lead you to replace it. That might make you feel better.

Had 2 hips replaced and a knee , the knee was by far the worst . I slept in a recliner for 3 months with the knee . I heard the new way they are doing it now isn't quite so invasive , time will tell on that one . All of my replacements after some time turned out way worth it .

I can't see how sawing off your knee joint and then pinning and gluing on a new metal one can be less invasive. 🍻

Brother in law had it done last year, and it was outpatient, he went home the same day. Quite a change from when my father had it done (at more or less the same age as BIL), and he was in the hospital for the better part of a week.

It does get better with time. Different pain though. My son was home for the month of May, took me in on the Friday, picked up on Monday. Had a Covid case on the floor so no visitors. He had to leave on Tuesday to get back to Ft Mac Alberta, 12 hr drive.
BIL came to cut some grass, now he's spoiled after running the Titan with MyRide.

Got both done in 2010. Had to get the right one redone in 2017. What changed were the drugs the use of nerve blockers. Biggest thing was the insurance companies not wanting to pay for hospital stays and rehab. Not the basic procedure. Thats from the doctors and a friend that processes medical claims not me. 🍻

3 Knee surgeries were a walk in the park compared to back surgery.🍻

Over the course of about 10 years (2000 to 2010) I had 3 back surgeries - each time, to do about the same thing at different points. Each made a much smaller incision and healed much easier. I've one knee that is going out.
That is good to hear.

My dr. said you only get 1 back take care of it. We can give you all the replacement knees and hips you need. 🍻

Family member just had a second knee replacement. Seems like it went better than the first, but other health issues make it hard to tell. The surgery was a disaster because of other issues but the knee replacement seemed to have gone better and most of the knee pain is gone. A new doctor with update technique made this replacement better.

Later,
Dan

I saw a welder. Needed knees replaced. Said he was going to Mexico and paying cash. Getting both done at same time. Then driving back to Arkansas.
I told him, you better get some pain medicine.
He said go look on the back seat of my truck.
He had a case of Jack Daniels, them professional drinking bottles with handles on them.
He toughed it out and made it happen. He's the only driver too.
