Just ordered the Mr Funnel from the link you supplied. If it can really do as they say then the $26 is worth it. I plan on using the funnel for the generator and outboard as well. Even with the constant use of the fuel conditioner it can't hurt to be too safe! with my luck the water would freeze in the line right in the middle of a snow storm!

Sandyc, my brother used to sell those funnels on the tool truck and had some customers who swore by them. One even knew he had let a good bit of water get into two 55 gallon barrels of gasoline (they work for gasoline and diesel both), and he salvaged all the gas just by pouring it all through those funnels and dumping the water. My brother gave me one and I used it a few times, but my fuel and containers were already clean at the time, so there wasn't anything for me to filter out.

Thanks for the info.....I really think that the funnel will help to reduce water in the diesel caused by temperature variations.

I am thinking that I need to drain the fuel out of my generator and run it thru the funnel just to make sure that the water is out of it. The last time I needed it (January ice storm) it started and ran OK but it wouldn't hurt to make sure everything was OK.
My wife's cousin(lives in Southern Maine) was surprised this winter when his Kubota stopped in mid plowing....seems he didn't think about using fuel conditioner. At 10 to 20 below zero the gels in diesel can be a real pain.

My '78 B6100 has a very fine screen filter (sort of a cup looking thing) right in the fuel tank under the tank cap. I don't know if this is supposed to catch water or not - or if it's original equipment or added by the previous owner, but it looks OE. It is easily removable so that if it did catch anything it could be emptied.

I think the Mr Funnel will work well for you. I was very skeptical at first. I poured a lot of gasoline through it and never came up with any water. That is when I decided to test it. I dumped a cup of water in a container and mixed it with a quart of gasoline. Poured it through the funnel and I was left with a cup of water.

I keep a plasitc jar (empty peanut butter jar) with my funnel. I refuel the tractor and dump what is left in the sump into the jar. The next time I refuel I dump the fuel from the jar into the funnel first and then refuel. With that process you always have a few ounces of fuel in the jar and it is easy to see if you have trapped any debris or water.
