Kohler Cutting Out - Carb cleaning?

I want to say that the low oil shutoff was disconnected because the PT can go sideways steeper and it posed issues with the machine. Could be WAY off on this... wouldn't be the first time for sure.

I connected mine; never had the engine shut down on slopes.

Only time the engine shutdown was when the hose on the oil cooler sprang a leak...

My Dixie chopper recently started doing the same thing. The odd thing is if you let it run with the choke on for a few minutes it will self correct and run right. It's definitely fuel starved, but loosing the fuel caps doesn't help. If it does die it doesn't backfire and this engine always backfires even if you let it run it idle before shutting off. It it make any difference it has over 900 on it.

I changed the fuel filter and made sure the line wasn't stopped up to no avail. I'm going to check the fuel pump tomorrow. Hopefully that's the problem.
