I was reading this thread a few days ago and thinking I haven't had a problem with my
B7800 in the 5-1/2 years since I got it. Well, today I went to trailer it home from the woodlot for winter snowblowing duties and it happened - I got off the seat and the motor quit and then the starter would not engage. Remembering this thread, I crawled underneath, disconnected the go pedal safety switch and put a jumper across the harness side of the plug. Eureka - it started and I was able to load the tractor and get it home into the garage to repair.
I removed the right rear wheel for easy (well, easier) access to the switch. Like
chiggerbait, I found the switch had got misaligned (because the adjusting/retaining nut had worked loose) so the plunger was missing the switch pin. I tightened the nut (hard to do on mine because the hydraulic hoses for the rear remotes are in the way), and while I was there I also did like
ptrotter and sprayed WD40 into the plunger tube. Everything is now good again.
Ain't TBN great?
