Buying Advice Kubota B-series or New Holland Boomer?

/ Kubota B-series or New Holland Boomer? #21
I have purchased two B model Kubota's and am happy with what I purchased. The B7510 carries a 54 inch MMM. It is basically a lawn tractor on steriods, however I have done a lot of work with it. I put 1200 hours on my B3200 and recently traded it for an L3901. The L model is much more of a tractor than either of the B's. If the K dealer has a 3901 in stock it could be a pre-def engine as mine is. If I operate at 2000 rpm I rarely have to run the engine until the particulates are burnt out. My model does not require DEF. The 3901 may be more comparable to the Boomer. I also purchased a 72" Land Pride finish mower which does a great job. Just my two cents.

I used to have a B2910 with 60" MMM. I thought of it the same way. Lost track of how many times I got off that tractor and after walking away a few steps, looked back in amazement that it had just done the work it had. :)

That LS does not have the expensive MMM on it, though. But yeah, it would still be a few grand cheaper.

True. It would be interesting to know what options were included with the Boomer for the listed price. If they didn't include the remotes, etc it could be an extra couple of thousand dollars difference.

Thanks all! We had both units out to our property for a demo. The new holland is very heavy, slower, possibly stronger but we just don't need all that horsepower. It also suffered a few glitches in just one demo...a tire fell off the wheel, the connector from the PTO to the mower was sticky and difficult for the salesman to operate, and the mower deck struggled to start up unless it was raised high out of the grass then dropped once it was at speed. Not encouraging. The Kubota was lighter and we know it's less nominal horsepower, but wow... User friendly. Mower worked beautifully. FEL does come off and was no different than the NH in that regard, but had a much better hydraulic system allowing it to lift and tilt simultaneously. The NH was either-or. It flies on flat ground and did not struggle with our 20% grade. So... Needless to say we went with Kubota. Thanks again for all the helpful advice!

Thanks for the wrap up but we NEED PICS :)

I think you'll be very happy with your choice. Kubota equipment is generally very user friendly. Thought you would notice that if you compared the two.

I'm with Newbury, we need pictures. :)

Some people are saying the DPF regen on the B3350 is having a lot of trouble, especially in cold weather: B3350 dpf issues - OrangeTractorTalks - Everything Kubota

Yes this is totally true! I am on my second Kubota B3350 because I thought I had just got a lemon the first time around. Further the PTO engagement safety switch keeps blowing out. Right now my B3350 is setting when I need it to be working as I own a lawn services company. When the Kubota goes into regen mode you have to stop working it set the brakes and let it regen, usually around 45 minutes. This tractor is a piece of crap and Kubota didn't have the bugs worked out when they began selling this trash on four wheels. If you want a Kubota I would suggest looking for a good used B 3200 as I own three of them and they are good tractors. No trouble at all with the exception of the regular wear and tear on the mower brackets. Please hear my warning Stay Away from the B3350. I am currently looking to trade my B3350 in for a NH Boomer Workmaster 37 as I'm tired of taking the Kubota to the shop to have it worked on. Things are so bad with the new Tier 4 Kubota's that my local dealer has tried to get Kubota Corp. to recall all the new tractors or at least halt production until they find solutions to all the problems. For me if I can't get rid of my B3350 I'm going to let the loan default. I have never done this in my life but I feel Kubota has sold me an inferior product. Sadly after running Kubota for 25 years I doubt I'll ever buy another new tractor.
