Kubota B1640 FEL Control Valve Replacement?

Hi,

New to the forum, and new to tractor ownership, so sorry for the stupidity! I recently bought a Kubota B7200 tractor with a backhoe and B1640 Front End Loader from my brother, with the knowledge that it needs some "work".

The control valve for the FEL is most likely shot, and I think I'd rather replace it than rebuild it. It sprays out a steady stream of oil on my feet at certain times, and gets stuck in the up position often.

The problem is that I'm having difficulty finding specs, and I know next to nothing about hydraulics. I've attached a diagram of the existing control valve from the user manual, and am wondering if anyone can suggest a source for a replacement that would work.

The manual only states "control valve, two spool with handle" and the specs say "one detent float position, power beyond circuit" and relief valve setting at 1450psi.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Here is a great valve that would work well on your FEL> Surplus Center 9-7401, you will also need the Power Beyond kit listed in the upper right corner.

I have the same issue as below. The manufacturer has gone out of business according to a Tech at Surplus Center.

I've noticed on the after market loader controls some have a regeneration. What is that. I can buy one without it for $10 less. Not sure if I need it.

I am on limited access now, but if you search the term "regen" you can read for hours. For $10, get it.

Hey, thanks Kenny. Now I know! What I don't know is do I need a separate hyd. line to accommodate the regenerative powers of the valve? And, if so, where does it go on the tractor.

Eagle, no special plumbing is required, everything is done inside the valve.

I purchased the LV22RFSTKAB control valve for my b1630. Having issues with its operation. Pulling down on the stick there is a detent before reaching full downward travel. If left at this detent the boom is pushed down. Pulling the stick fully downward the boom will raise. Pushing up on the stick should lower it but it raises it also. The bucket works as it should. I've tried different hose configurations but no help.
Any ideas?

Update... Works great after trying various hose connection combinations. The instructions were opposite on the connections for lifting the boom. But I got it this morning after sleeping on it!

After getting the FEL to work properly I noticed the 3 point hitch was slow to react. Today I refilled the Hyd. reservoir (3 cups low after changing hoses) and the 3 point raises v-e-r-y slowww. I'm wondering if these controls have anything to do with this. I do not have the power beyond cartridge on the new controls. Would having this cartridge make the 3 pt. work? Doesn't seem like these controls should affect the 3 pt.

The PB sleeve might let more fluid pass through the valve, but I can't see it making that much of a dramatic difference. If there is that much restriction in the new valve, it will get VERY hot.

Can you add a drawing of how its plumbed? Or post some good pics?

Since I had to switch the boom hoses opposite of what the instructions called for I'm going to try switching the bucket hoses. If that doesn't help I'll switch the inlet & outlet hoses. There is also a hose for the return to reservoir that I disconnected to see if that'd help but realized there was no real pressure there.

Yet another update.
It's funny when you have something "Dawn" on you and a revelation follows!!! I switched the hoses back as per the instructions. The 3 Pt began working But (the dawn) I discovered these controls are for mounting on their side thus, pushing the stick L & R the boom raises & lowers and far right it goes into float mode. Push forward, pull back the bucket operates. I'm used to the pull/push to raise & lower the boom. So, either I remound/fab the controls to mount sideways or bite the bullet & re-learn the controls.

Oh well... such is life........
