Rotary Cutter Kubota B2320 stalls w. LP bush hog

I cut a lot of rough ground & thick cover with my B2320 hydro & LP 48" bush hog. Three or four times in 58 hours of running I've nailed a big rock hidden in tag alders/grass or pulled up a big log into the blades & the tractor stalls before I can raise the cutter, disengage PTO etc. It then starts & runs fine w. cutter once I've cleared anything & spun back up. Cutter is shear bolt, not slip clutch. Cutter grinds/shudders thru saplings etc just fine + miles of thick weeds.

I've read thru tractor & cutter manual stuff again & can't find any info on this.

I'm a bit surprised the shear bolt hasn't broken. Is this little 23HP Kubota designed to stall under sudden load like that? Thanks.

Yes sir, they will stall before the shear pin breaks, sometimes. I stalled my b2620 with 42 in LandPride cutter several times. I also broke several shear pins. I would guess that it depends on the way the object is hit.
I stalled my BX25 with a slip clutch on a LP tiller also. Sometimes the tiller would load the BX quicker than the governor could react, or before the clutch could slip.:us-kentucky::cool2:

Thanks Beckmurph. Talked to a friend who cuts up there with a NH 35 & 6' cutter & it happens to him too. Canada bears dragging logs into tall grass + rock heaving everywhere. I try to be careful but man it ain't a pasture.

I have the same thing happen on my b2920 when I feed something too large for the chipper (sheer pin). I doubt it's good for it, but I haven't had any issues with it and it always starts right up.
