kubota b2400 pto not dis-engaging

I just purchased a used b2400 w/ loader and have now found out that the pto will not dis-engage. Also the saftey switch has been bypassed so the tractor will start. Any thoughts on how to fix (besides the obvious: why didn't you check this before you purchased offroadfab@yahoo.com )

You didn't specify whether it was the mid or rear pto, either way you might look at where the shift lever attaches to the shaft near the trans housing and see if by chance a roll pin fell out. When you attempt to disengage does it feel like it's pulling on the shift fork? Or does the lever move back and forth freely?

The rear pto will not dis-engage. The belly mounted pto will engage and dis-engage with no problem.

Sorry, I don't think I replied to the right person, your help is still needed.... The rear pto will not dis-engage. The belly mounted pto will engage and dis-engage with no problem. To be honest with you, it feels like it is engaging and dis-engaging when you cycle the "lever".

Any imput would be great.

Does the pto stop spinning when you push in the clutch pedal?

Does the pto control lever move through all of its travel?

Is there any rattling noise while moving the control lever through it travel?

Does the lever move smoothly?
