Kubota B2920

Looking to take the plunge and buy new. Need to rough cut about 4 acres of hilly field. Also want to be able to move some split firewood from time to time and clean up a little after the plow goes through.

Looking at a B2920 HSD R-4 with a LA364 ldr and a 4' Landpride mover. Priced out at $16,100 for the machine and another $1500 for the deck with a clutch.

Thoughts on the machine? Price?

hello, i was given price on b2920 with 51in. front blower, and fel for $21000. ihope this helps, i dont know where u are located, but value implement in baldwin, Wisconsin has the best prices around!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup:

I have had a 2920 for about 3 years. During the winter, I use it to clear the driveway of snow using the FEL and a rear blade. I don't have chains on the R4 tires, but still never have a problem unless I get a wheel off of the raised rock drive.

I mow our yard some with it using the MMM, but also have a JD garden tractor, so usually use it on the yard. But the MMM does a good job of mowing.

We bought the B2920 primarily for another 12 acres that we have that is recreational land it is about half woods and half fields. I have a 5' Bush Hog brand mower. A 54" would have probably been a better size, but other than if I have gotten way behind on mowing, it goes through it pretty easily. The negative about using the B2920 with a rotary mower is the 1/4" valve. You can set the mower at the height you want, but as you mow, it will gradually sink down in the front so you have to bump it up. I now put chains on mine to maintain the height I want. For the other things I do, the 1/4" valve works fine.

For that reason, if you are going to do a lot of cutting with a rotorary mower, you might want to also consider a B2630 or B3030. They have some nice features including position control which will hold the mower at the desired height. But they are likely to cost a bit more.

JD has position control on their similar size tractors, but I think they have 2 range HST and I really like the 3 ranges on the B2920.

All in all, it has been very reliable and makes a great $20K wheel barrow.

I bought mine a year ago next month, and paid $15,300 for the tractor/loader. I also got a 60" MMM for another $2350. I mow a little over 4 acres, and the tractor does about 3 acres of that (the other gets mowed with my old Dixon ZTR). I love the tractor, but the lack of position control can be a pain. I plan to get a rear rotary mower this year for occasional use on a 10 acre field that's normally rented out for crops. I guess I'll use chains to keep it in place. On the other hand, to get position control (BXX30 series) I would have had to give up the floating MMM...and it gets used probably more use than anything that hangs on the 3PH.

Curious about the 54" being better size. Had problems with using the 5' Bush Hog on this machine?

No actual problems. I talked to my dealer before buying the rotary mower and he felt the 2920 would handle the 60" fine. I took my tractor to the dealer and tried the 5' Bush Hog Squeeler on it. The Squeeler is a medium weight mower and it seemed to fine with it. The had a Razorback available which is a light weight, but I stuck with the 5' Squeeler. I keep the FEL on when mowing as a counterbalance, but it is a big mower back there. Last year due to some Spring rains, I did not get to mow as ealy as I normally do, so it was pretty tall the first time I mowed and had to slow down and occasionally stop to let it catch up. Normally, I have no problem.

Sometimes when I have mowing it more regularly I just use the MMM. The MMM is really pretty robust and as long as you keep it out of brush and rocks, it is a pleasure to mow with it. I would agree with Fred's comment that I like the suspended mower on the B2x20 better than the ground contact mowers used on the Bxx30's.

Dealer is suggesting a Land Pride deck for the B2920-I think that's the line that Kubota has a relationship with. Any thoughts on that product line?

I think Land Pride is very good. I would have no problem with their products and have a rear blade made by Land Pride. My dealer gets some of theirs, but hadles more Bush Hog brand. They would have gotten the Land Pride for me, but I was ok with the Bush Hog and at that dealership it was a bit cheaper due to their volume of Bush Hog vs Land Pride.

I started out with a cheap light weight rear finish mower and it kept breaking. After a year of use Barlows gave me what I paid for it ($1200) toward a Landpride RFM ($1700). The Landpride was quite a bit heavier and was built like a tank. Never broke it a single time.
In seven years of tractoring I've found out or determined that weight makes a big difference. If there is a choice I go with the heavist piece of equipment (Implement) I can afford and that my tractor will handle.
