Could someone tell me how you use the independent brakes when you have to use a pedal to drive an HST forward? Seems both are on the right-hand side?

I dont know about the NZ tractors, but you wont be standing up on the new tractors unless you disable the safety switch under the seat. I think you would be glad you spent the extra $500 on the industrial tires over the turfs. You get the extra wide tires like the turfs but much stronger tires which is good for loader work and the wide R4 tires float in soft soil better than R1 and give you some traction on wet grass and soil. My only experience with turfs was on my brother in laws 750 JD and it would spin out on grass just trying to turn sharp and had to hit the diff lock to stop the spinning or make a wide turn. Got it stuck in mud once and I pulled it out with my truck in 2 wd without spinning a tire, it was just sitting on top of the ground with the tires slicked over from a small muddy spot. Well worth the extra $500 for Industrials and they will also last much longer on hard surfaces than turfs or ags since they have harder and thicker rubber on them.
As for which tractor to pick, that is your choice and both are good. I think you will like the Kubota HST for your chores listed much better than a direct drive unit. My tractors are all gear but I drive my B-I-L's New Holland HST occassionally and it is nice for loader work and with the cruise control, works ok for slasher work too. Kind of a pain when having to work slow around stuff when you have to keep your foot on the pedal all the time. MY son-in-law has a B2920 and it is much more comfortable than the NH to operate the HST pedals so your B3300 should be similar. Good luck on what ever you choose and I'm sure you will enjoy either tractor.

When I had that setup, I used the cruise control (hand control on left side of the Kubota) thus freeing up your right foot to use the independent brakes. It does not work in reverse, only going forward. Is it great? no but it does work. Some people have feet large enough and talented enough to use their heel on the hydro pedal and toes on the split brake. I never was any good at doing that. My new Kioti has the 2 pedal setup on the right and split brakes on the left and no clutch, so that problem is solved. But 99 percent of the time you dont need split brakes as you can change direction so fast with the hydro system that you can just "see-saw" back and forth a couple of times and get around an obstruction easily without the use of split brakes. I used split brakes a lot with my gear tractor, and seldom with my hydro tractors.

I have not had any need to use them on this tractor, turns quick and easy. Even with a bucket of soil it only takes 2 fingers to turn it. Needed the split brakes on the old tractors constantly.

Don how are you getting along with the new Kioti overall

I am liking mine quite a bit.. Let the wife operate some today, and she said she likes it a little better than the Kubota.. She likes the 2 pedal setup better.

Gary Fowler - yeah...I've read about the seat switch :( Won't be long and we'll all be getting encased in large plastic/gel balls so we can't get hurt no matter what. (Or surrogates!)

Thx for the points of the Industrials. I've decided that is the better option. Maybe the rims are the same and I can swap to turfs down the road? Hope to find all my answers this week about the Kubota.

I've been thinking about the HST pedal a lot. I can see that at times it'll be a pain. ON the B3300SU, it's NOT the rocker pedal like some HST's have. It has two pedals - one forward (for forward) and a smaller one (for backward) that was further toward the back of the tractor. Side-by-side pedals would probably be better.

Seems stupid to have split brakes and the inability to keep the tractor under power to use them. The B3300SU doesn't come with cruise as stock, so don't know what their thinking is??

k0ua - saw this on the Kioti. Seems the best setup. The push button Cruise on the TYM has been the best I've seen to date - both forward and reverse - feet free to do whatever!

grampastractor - I use split brakes for turning in my gear tractor when the mowed area is getting tight...but then again, the turning lock on my DF254 is next to useless. I was quite buzzed how good the lock is on the kubota. On the Kioti's while the lock was very good, I found the number of times the steering wheel had to crank a little excessive.

I was hoping to get a decision made this week - maybe even have whatever tractor I buy sitting in the barn by Friday. Maybe my expectations are too high :D

For six acres depending on how it is laid out a B2920 Kubota would be perfect except the deluxe B-series had extendable links standard as well as cruise and for some to enjoy the standard style hitch operation.
My thoughts are that you already have a 60" mower/slasher for your current tractor and the larger B-series chassis would handle it better.

I normally operate most Kubotas about 1800 rpm for most work other then PTO and then it varies up to maybe 2500 mowing and tilling.

Tires wise it would depend on soil and moisture and if it was mostly dry light soil easily damaged then the turfs would be the best. Sod that doesn't tear or damage easily will except industrial tires and most common purchased. They will leave bar imprints in wet soil where a turf won't leave as much of an expression.
Do you have snow where you are? Pavement can easily be cleaned with turf tires but dirt might need the more aggressive tread of the industrial tires.

Mid PTO systems are used to operate a mid mower or any front powered attachments like snowblowers or brooms. So if none of those options are needed then a standard L could be used.

I do feel the manuverability of a B-series when you are done with the property would be a major plus as well as it's light foot print.

You are right about the financing! No breaks on that for you but why not the new series STV series if you are going larger in weight Still feel the B-3030 would be the best size.

art - thx for the commments. I thought the B3030 would be perfect as well, but that model is no longer available I'm told - this after the manager suggested it was the model I would want?? :smiley_aafz:

Then it was suggested the STV40 would be the next best thing - except that it's mid $40K  . They don't bring in the two smaller models?? Seems everywhere I turn, there isn't the model I want.

Don't need a mid-PTO - I prefer a rear mower (already have a 4' slasher as you guessed).

Decided Industrials are the way to go. Not sure I like the ideal of them marking the concrete drive though. I doubt turfs would have - more like a car tyre. Can't take the risk turfs will lose traction all the time as I still have a fair amount to do before the garden is finished. I'll get there in the end :D

Well the weeks have flown passed while I've been waiting for final numbers etc.

I'd virtually decided the Kubota was for us, so I went in to sign on the bottom line, but before I did I decided to look the machine over again. As I did so, I couldn't help but feel a little less impressed than the first viewing. I was also somewhat concerned about the size difference of everything compared to my smaller horsepower tractor - and the others I had looked at. Everything looked under-engineered, that is, quite small for the duty of the machine (only is as much as a comparison to the other machines I'd looked at.)

The salesman came out at this point and I asked his opinion as to whether the B3300SU was the right tractor for me and if it would carry out the workload I had it detailed for (the salesman had seen what we are attempting to do.) His answer was not only too long in coming, but also unconvincing in the reply. It cost him the sale.

So I was back to square one so to speak. I had to ring the Kioti people back and ask the salesman to get a CK35 in for viewing and a test drive (they didn't have one in stock.). He rang back to say they'd sold the last one, but more were due to arrive a week later (they need some assembly as well), so I ended up waiting two weeks.

Well to cut the rest of the story short, my wife and I viewed and tested the CK35 today. It seems more of a "real" tractor than the Kubota and we were very happy with it. We signed on the bottom line. :)

I'm having it fitted with industrial tyres and a 4:1 bucket on the FEL. They are throwing a sunshade into the deal. Hopefully if all the components are available I should see it next week. I'll get some pics once it arrives.

Thx all for the excellent input. Much appreicated

Congrats on the new tractor and welcome to the "pack" Pictures of course are "required" I pushed over some large trees with my DK35se this evening, and was surprised at what it would do. Good luck and take care down there.
