Has anyone added a coolant recovery tank to a b7100?

I have been considering adding a small one to see if I could get away from constantly refilling the radiator....

A small motorcycle coolant recovery tank would be easy to mount up near the radiator...any thoughts?

Your "constantly refilling the radiator" kinda wondering here what your mixture..on my B7100 from early spring to late autumn its 50/50,and very seldom I add any anti freeze or water.

If I was to add spare holding tank it would be a metal one..do to the heat also the use of your B7100.

If you are constantly refilling the rad rather than adding a recovery tank I'd start looking for the real problem. Do you lose the fluid when the whistle starts blowing indicating overheating or does it just dissapear?

I believe your right Egon, for Tim could be facing a problem, and maybe a good flushing of the coolant system plus clean the fins and check the belt tention might help.

The fluid just seems to drip out of the overflow hose as I am working with the tractor.

I haven't heard any whistling to indicate overheating...is that standard on a b7100? I don't remember reading about that in
the owners manual.

The belt tension is correct ( it is also a new belt ) and I am using 50/50 antifreeze and water mix.

It is not losing a lot of coolant, just enough that I have to put a cup of fluid in once a week or so ( 5 hours of run time aproximately ).

Also, has anyone modified the hood of a B7100 that has a FEL to get easier access to the radiator cap?

Tim,
I'm now wondering what year your B7100 might be.

My owners manual does state it shall whistle if the engine over heating.

I haven't heard of anyone nor seen modifed hood due to fel attach on a B7100..
Would that be a Kubota FEL{1630C} or another brand.

I lose couple of drops here and there, but not a cup full every 5 hours or so. /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif
I'm very interested in your findings.

Does the overflow tube end in a larger brass/copper looking tube that is about 3 inches long as that is the whistle.
If fluid just drips out I would suggest a new radiator cap is in order as it appears the seal on the cap is not being effective and allowing a little vapour past which in turn condenses as it looses energy.

B7100..not sure what the year in which Tim posting...just wondering maybe there were changes made, for the 1995 B7100 has a real good tight fitting cap.
