I need to move a B7300 about 150 miles. I was just noticing that it would actually fit in the bed of a pickup truck (47" wide x 88" long - 3pt hitch is off) and weighs about 1700 pounds.

Would it be crazy to try and move it with a 1/2T or 3/4T truck?
thanks

The truck will have a pretty high center of gravity and you might have to take your tailgate off or otherwise be creative to load it into the bed of the truck (or you will break your tailgate.) Also securing the load, maybe you have some solid tie-downs in your bed, maybe not. Overall I bet you will thank yourself if you just borrow or rent a suitable trailer or even pay someone to haul it for you.

Would be doable if you have a loading dock at each end. I wouldn't do it using ramps... Easier and safer to load/unload a trailer.

Assuming you can get it in the bed safely, from a bank or similar way with no other attachments and all 4 tires is on the bed completely? Do you have a way to strap it down from 4 corners? If you have no plans to hurry home with load, take turns slow.If yes to all, I guess why not, despite of naysayers. you do what you gotta do.

I'm not sure about a 1/2 ton truck, but if you can get it in as other poster stated and it will fit, and can be tied down, why not? Is 1700 an accurate weight?

I would not do it in a 1/2 ton and would probably not do it in a 3/4 ton due to the high CG. Loading would be a pain also and dangerous if not having a dock at each end.

Get a trailer to move it on.

I have done this with a tractor of similiar size but weighed around 2500 lbs. I only did it once and would not make a habit of it but it did work. This was with a 3/4 ton truck. There is no way I would do it with something less than a 3/4 ton.

Tractor did not run at the time. If I remember correctly we loaded and unloaded the tractor by backing up to a steep bank that was about the height of the truck bed. It was a luxury to have those in both the loading and unloading location. Not always possible.

The weight should be close to 1772, according to Kubota specs, anyway. Ummm, they list the bucket separately at 120#, maybe that needs to be added in. I suppose I could take the FEL off and leave it there for now, that would get it down to about 1500#

I know a guy that usually hauls much bigger stuff, he will give me a special price of $1/mile. But it still comes to $300+ that way.

Thanks for all the quick responses. I'll think about it some more.
(and yes, the conventional truck + trailer does sound very appealing)

I've hauled a Kubota B7610 in the bed of my F-250 about 150 miles and it worked great. A few things to consider:

-you'll have to take the loader and/or mower deck off for it to fit.
-you need a good bank or loading dock to get it into/out of the truck
-need a way to chain the tractor down in the bed of the truck
-need a truck that is capable of safely hauling that much weight. An F-150 probably wouldn't be safe considering the C.O.G.

When I did it I took the mower deck off the B7610, backed the truck up to a steep bank (tail gate was touching the ground), and drove it right in. Used a couple heavy 2" ratchet straps to tie it down to the safety chain rings on the gooseneck hitch, shut the tail gate, and I was off. Hauled great, could hardly tell the load was back there.

I wouldn't trust the tailgate cables on anything for that kind of weight..Loading anyway.
