Yes it is a drive over mower. What would trade in value be?

Is $6500 a fair buying price on this machine with high hours?

Looks to be in good condition, buy it. I believe that is a drive over mower deck as well. Where did the ROPS get off to? Technically, you cannot purchase any tractor and certainly not sell it without the ROPS. I'd want that as well.
ROPS?

Yes, if it's the right size for you. I've always thought the BX's as too small for me. Get (or find a used) rollbar, for sure.

Yes this is a good deal as mentioned if they have books/records of maintenance and the Roll Over Protection System (ROPS) is required and Kubota does still sell them - but if the owner doesn't have it take a few $100 off the price.

The price is right, and if you were to trade "as is" you won't lose much if anything.. The hours are on the higher side, but these will run for 3-4000+ hours as long as they are maintained.

It's a BX2230 (edited to correct model #)
at 1,700 hours, it's a teenager
Turf tires work better in snow than you would think
Tractor and mower are worth $6,000 - $6,500
Tractor/mower/loader are worth $8,000 - $9,500
YMMV

I'd be deducting a bit more than 100 bucks if the owner has no ROPS (roll cage), simply because to buy a new one from Kubota would most likely be at least 500 bucks....and keep in mind that you could probably sell it to an individual without the ROPS but you cannot trade in into any dealer because the ROPS is a federally mandated requirement and no dealer will accept it without on trade or outright. It is a cute little machine but way too small for my uses.

What is with the half of the PTO shaft hanging on the PTO anyway? Something is missing there.

$6500 is a good price if it comes with the deck. The loader is a plus. The same tractor with a backhoe is around $8900. Much depends on where you are and where the tractor sits. I'd snatch it up if it runs good.

You asked about trade in value. That would be half or less of the above prices. Dealers will need to make money on a trade in. And a 1700-hour tractor is always harder to sell from the lot.

I removed the ROPS from my F20 series Kubota diesel mower simply because it gets in the way when mowing under our pine trees but it's in the barn so if and when I off the machine, I can bolt it back on.
