Just wondering if there are any other BX 2200 owners on board. Do you like your BX and what things should I be mindful of as a new owner of one myself, in terms of preventitive maintenance on things that are problem areas for these tractors. Are they a discontinued model that might be hard to get parts for? Thanks for any input.

I don't have a 2200, but I do have a BX23..If you're concerned about parts, call the local dealer and ask them. These things don't really change much over time.

I wouldn't worry much about parts availability.

I was just a bit concerned because I have a John Deere 316 with an Onan motor and they are discontinued as are the mower decks, making them obsolete. I realize now that the Kubota I bought is only 5 years old, but was still curious of any issues they had and what to look out for in mine, which has 200 hours on the meter. THey deliver it this week and Oh I can't wait!:licking:

I've owned a BX2200 for about 8 years and 300 hrs run time with no problems.
It's used for mowing and grading in the mountains of Western North Carolina for six months a year. It has been so good that I just bought a BX2660 for use here in SW Florida at our 60 acre ranch and 5 acre home place for the other six months.

We bought a BX2200 new in 2003 then sold it to our son in law (long story) in 2008 and bought a BX2660. The 2200 had 600 hours when sold and is still running like a top. It doesn't burn oil and everything works fine. The light switch went out once and has lived outside for the past four years with no problems.

The only "weakness" is the breather bracket, ours broke once. The engine bounces a lot on all BXs at low idle exacerbating this, so we always ran ours fast enough to smooth it out.

If you are going to run it in the woods, all BXs need HST fan protection which some make, I got mine from Bro Tek and BXpanded may make some now.

It is a really capable little tractor.

Do a search of TBN. You will find far more information than this single thread can provide.

What did you mean by "HST fan protection" ?

Will do. I've read so many reviews and with the exception of a couple people, the BX series really gets rave reviews.

What did you mean by "HST fan protection" ?

There's a transmission cooling fan under the back of the tractor that is made of plastic..If a stick or something gets in there it'll destroy the fan..There are aftermarket coveer plates available to prevent this...Kubota should have put these on from day one..

What did you mean by "HST fan protection" ?

Under your BX where the drive shaft from the engine to the hydrostatic transmission (HST) attaches is a small plastic fan mounted to the drive shaft. The spinning shaft/fan is used to cool the HST. It is vulnerable to sticks, etc., breaking off the fan blades. If you run in rough areas without the mid mount mower (MMM) attached, it can get whacked. Check yours to see if it's in tact. If you want to protect it for use when the MMM is off, you can buy a skid plate from either bro-tek or BXpanded, or make your own as some here on TBN have. Good luck with your new-to-you BX2200.
