Comparison kubota BX vs my Massey GC1715 . . . what have I learned

Stopped in yesterday. Chuck is gone, they said he went back to driving truck. Talked to Dan, sales manager, very helpful. He set me up with a side by side test drive of the GC1715 and the Kubota. In general, I preferred the GC1715 Massey (pedal arrangement, loader speed, and overall feel / appearance).

Glad to hear you had the chance to stop. Comparing apples to apples at one time for fit and feel really makes the differences easier to measure and magnify. 2 good brand selections. Even better specific model choices.

I've been pleased with every employee I've come in contact with in the operation . . . sales, finance, service, delivery.

But whether or not your dealer choices are located . . It still comes down to manufacurer/product/warranty first and then dealer pricing/support/service next imo

Originally I had recommended MNLaredo visit a particular large tractor dealer in south central Wisconsin because they sell the full lines of both Kubota and Massey. His likely interest area was/is SCUT sizes.

MNLaredo, I think numerous readers on TBN who are considering subcompact purchase might be interested in your perceptions and impressions in different forum areas.

Why ? Because very few have the ability to evaluate brands on a side by side basis in person. There is something much different about direct observation compared to traveling to two dealers and test-driving. Or comparig models that are "similar" but not head-to-head of the models desired.

Its a very regular weekly 1st post from new tbn people to "help me choose" followed by specific sizes of Kubota bx vs others.

Just a thought about how your test drives might be of interest to others. Kind of a "who, what, why" type of response.

Small world. I'm in the market for a subcompact tractor in the Madison area. I ruled out JD because of price, looking more toward MF or Kubota. I got prices from many dealers, and yesterday McFarlanes gave me the best prices by far. I'm heading there later today for a look see. Not bringing the wife though, as she has no idea we're buying a tractor, yet. Only about a 45 minute ride for me.:thumbsup:

I think you'll be surprised at what you find. It certainly isn't like other dealer locations.

I found the wife was able to see and participate nicely in the process. And these are dmall town peopkevwith big town capabilities.

Definitely, compare some various brands and you will be surprised after taking a closer look at the small differences. Don't let brand loyalty sway you as well, just buy the best product you can afford. I been there and done that and always wonder should I have gotten a larger machine based on the these forums, seems to be the general concensus always get the bigger tractor and not the better tractor. You need to make the choice of what features you want or need and where the work will have to be done, no one else can tell you that part. However, I am always surprised how much work these small SCUT's are capable of when you start doing some real work. Much better than doing the work by hand or even with a group of people. I can do much more work around the property with a SCUT then doing it by hand and the smaller package means I do not rut up the lawn and can get in between my gates and into tighter spaces to do work. It's not a miracle worker, but can do 90% of the jobs. If I need more muscle I can always rent for a weekend and finish up the work with the SCUT.

Well, I just got back from McFarlanes. Huge hardware store with tractors inside, very nice.

I test drove the Massey Ferguson GC1715 and the Kubota 2370 (there wasn't a 2670 in the showroom). I loved them both, but the Massey just seemed to be a smoother operator, IMO. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to post prices on here, so I won't. I did get pricing on the 1715 with the DL95 loader, mulching 54" deck, and a 50" land pride tiller. The mulching deck was a $200 upgrade from the standard 60" deck. After hearing Axle talk about his, and the fact that my wife hates when I blow the clippings in her flower beds and other landscaping around the house, I thought I should go that route. So, if you're good at math, with the tractor and attachments, taxes, insurance, and using the 3.99% for 84 months, I was at $222 per month with no money down. If the wife says yes, I'm going to be a Massey owner very soon. Woop Woop!:cool2:

I have all the confidence in the world that this size tractor will do everything I need to do, and more.

In addition, you may develop an interest for a couple of added 3rd party items like a quick attach for that dl95 fel or a 3pt sprayer or ???

How soon before you gain possession of "a serious work tool in red " that will prove a definite benefit for your wife's dreams and your back saving advabtage??

Yes, 0% for 84 months, but they add around 20% to the cost of the machine. 3.99% for 84 months is their lowest price, from McFarlanes anyhow.

I read somewhere else on this site that with 10% down, they will honor the 0% for 84. I'll ask tomorrow morning.

The wife gave me the Green light for the Red tractor! Actually, I'm the boss, and I just had to let her feel good about it!

She will be mowing a lot with this machine, R4 tires or turf tires? Cost was very similar.

I got my 0% for 84 months w/10% down a couple months ago. I got it for cash price with the 10% down. Again, will depend on dealer and area in the country etc...

I got mine with R4's most people mow on them without much issue but also wanted the deeper lugs for ground work I will be doing in the spring along with heavy FEL use. The R4 is the jack of all trades and master of none kind of deal. Decent at everything just not great at one particular thing.
