Kubota BX2230
Well, I got myself confused again. I went to look at a used BX2200 and the dealer is now carrying the CC line. They had a 5234D w/FEL for $11, 500, the same price as the Kubota's. Drove both side by side, although the Kubota was a 2000.

For $10k plus about $350 extra, I get the Kubota with box scrapper and 594 hours. For $11,500 + $350 extra, I can get either the CC 5234D or the Kubota 2230. I like the idea of a warranty on both the new machines (kubota's is 2 years everything, CC 1 year).

I need help in determining which machine will give me the best bang for the buck? Both drove well, but the Kubota seemed to be more nimble. The layout of the CC was very nice, but a lot of plastic. I need to see if anyone has a CC and if there are any problems.

Thank you in advance.

I think both are good machines but around here I'm sure the general concensus would be to get the Kubota... I probably would as well. You might want to look at the Cub Cadet forum. There have been several posts recently about the 5000 series. One guy, "viking65" I think, has one and has had quite a few problems with not many hours logged.

What actually would you be getting for the $11,500? If it is a BX2230 with a 60" MMM and a loader, that would be a great deal. If it were just the tractor and MMM, but no loader, that would not be a good deal in my opinion...

I think 10K for a 2000 BX 2200 with MMM and no loader would not be a very good deal. Might not even be a good deal if it had a loader, but I'm not sure about that...I do know for me it would not be...I am pretty sure around here $12.5K (or very close to it) would get you a new BX2230 with 60" MMM and Loader...along with the new tractor warranty and zero percent financing if it is still being offered.

Since it seems like you are looking for a SubCUT sized tractor maybe the list below will help to lay out all of your options - I have only listed what I believe to be current models - there are some older models out there on the used market if you are looking for used (Kubota BX2200 for example)

Kubota
BX1530
BX1830
BX2230
BX23

John Deere
2210

New Holland
TZ18
TZ25

Massey Ferguson
GC2300
GC2310

Simplicity
Legacy XL

Cub Cadet
5234D
5252
5354

Case
DX18E
DX22E
DX25E

As far as I know every single one of the above mentioned tractors is available with or can be outfitted with a 3pt hitch, FEL, MMM, snowblower, etc. The BX23 and the GC2310 come outfitted with a backhoe from the factory - every one of the other models can either be outfitted with a backhoe from the factory - or you can add a Woods Groundbreaker X hoe to it.

So if you really want to go comparison shopping the above is the list you can work from /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif . If I was shopping for a tractor I would start by analyzing the jobs I think I am going to have to do and figure out what type and size of tractor will get the work done for me. Then I would look at what dealers are available in my area and also look at what brands/models of tractor are the most popular. I am pretty sure the Kubota BX series is the most popular SubCUT sized tractor out there. This is important because it affects your ability to get replacement parts and repair help down the road and it will affect your resale value a lot also. I would be willing to bet that a Kubota BX2230 bought now for the same price as either a comparable Case/Cub Cadet/Simplicity tractor would hold much more of it's resale value at the same age, with the same hours and same wear and tear. Then last but not least you should look at which tractor you really like - in the end it is your butt that will be sitting it it's seat and your money that will be spent on it so it has to make you happy.

My vote would be for the new Kubota BX2230 for another $1500 you get a brand new tractor with no hours on it - 594 is a decent amount of hours on one of these tractors.

I apologize...the $10K tractor includes the FEL. I just went to 3 dealers today and I got the pricing and I believe my mind is made-up...I am going with the BX2230/FEL/60"MMM.

I got pricing on the Case/New Holland (dealer had both) and he wanted $13950 for the TZ/DX25E as they are the same machine. For the Kubota, he wants $12,663...same set-up. All three come with turf tires.

Just for fun I priced the JD 2210 w/FEL and it came in at $12995....kind of surprised at the price as I was expecting it to be higher. The Cub Cadet is out as I can't determine the reliability of the unit and my wife liked it because it was cute...I can't ride a cute tractor.

Thanks for all of the help and assistance and I will update you on the purchase.

I would take a serious look at the JD 2210 before you go for the BX. The 2210 has a quick disconnect bucket on the FEL - which is a major benefit in my book. The BX does not have this. Of course all the other things mentioned should still be looked at however when comparing the two tractors. If you go with the BX you will like it - I am very happy with my BX23.

It looks like you are getting a great bang for your buck, and your logic is sound. Good luck!

I prefer the ag tires
My tractor was the same price with AG or Turf tires.
