Hi,
anyone have any tips for getting a pin out. it is at the top of the mount of the backhoe to the frame. has a t pin that freely slides. on one side you slide the t pin and just pull the 1" by 5" pin out. on the other side i can't budge the pin. i tried wd 40 and hamering on it...but it is in close quarters. not much room to move.
ideas?
thanks
dave

Try playing around with the boom on the BH. Try pushing the boom down further to remove more weight off the tractor. You may need to lift the back wheels off the ground to get some free play in the pins. A bit of lateral movement of the boom is sometimes required.

Once you get the pins out, I suggest that you clean and lubricate both the pin and the hole. In my experience, the new BX24 design seems more prone to oxidation in that area than the older BX23 design.

I have the same problem with one of my BH pins. The trick is, when the rear of the tractor is lifted off the ground using the BH boom, fiddle with the side stablizers. Shifting the weight of the hoe on the tractor. The pin will slip out with ease. That is assuming there is no rust/corrosion sticking it in there.

Good Luck!

When I got my BX24 the dealer did an introduction and could not get the pins out. A mechanic came out and spent a couple of hours to loosen them up mostly with emery cloth to take some of the paint off. I think he had a long metal tool to help tap them out initially.
In attaching the backhoe and taking it off I found the following to work. Stand alongside using the controls with one hand as described above while trying to turn the pin with the other hand lets you feel when it frees up. Otherwise it seemed like force was needed but it actually moved easily when aligined and there was no pressure on it.

That's pretty much the technique I use. I lower the boom until it contacts the ground and then just a little more; keeping an eye on the upper pins to see when the seem to loosen. Then drop the stabilizers until they just touch the ground. Carefully put your hand on one of the pins and slowly lower that side's stabilizer until the pin loosens in your hand. If it doesn't, lower or raise the boom a little and repeat.
Repeat for the other side. I find that it's pretty unusual for both pins to be loose at the same time, but I'm probably not on level ground.

If I read this right the BX24 uses pins, similar to the FEL, to secure the BH to the subframe?
If so this is a big departure from the BX22/BX23 models that uses a spring clamp to "clasp" the permanently mounted pin on the subframe.

Wonder why Kubota changed from the very easy mounting method of the BX22/BX23?

all good ideas. thanks to all of you.

I eventually got it out...about 1 hour. i got a ton of lube on it and let it sit. then ended up tapping it back and forth and eventually banged it out. i will emery it well before it goes back in. it is really hard to deal with as the pto cover gets in the way of a hammer... the angle that you can put a chisel on it is not good.

i got it off and put on a post hole digger so i am ready for 9 am tomorrow when all my buddies arrive. we are doing 9" 3 foot deep holes. very rocky soil.

any tip and tricks?

Thanks again...the power of the internet.

Buy lots of shear bolts - lots and lots. Rocks and augers, ehhhh. Also have a large pipe wrench and a log extension bar. Use it to unscrew the auger out of the ground after it grabs a rock, screws itself down and breaks the shear bolt - all before you can go "what?"

Pins are a simpler and cheaper alternative to the more complex and ingenious clamp mecanism used earlier. It seems to be one of many differences introduced to lower the construction costs of the new BXs, and maintain/increase corporate profits.
