Kubota BX25 Seems to Run Hot

Blow the radiators really well first. Then when hosing start at the top and slowly move along then down a bit and back across till u you reach the bottom. Dont move on itll it runs clear at each spot or it will set to mud and lock the radiator up. Then run the engine till ALL the water dries. Normally just a blow out will suffice, but if its bad, hose as per above. Check the fan belt while your there. On a bx its really necessary to pull the battery to do a good job.

Well here's an update at my end. I really thought my radiator was clean, But there was some buildup when I looked again, which I was able to clean off real well with a shop vac hose, without taking the battery out. Not taking the battery out is NOT a big deal, but I just didn't need to.

One thing I did differently this time was I took a paint brush and some detergent and really scrubbed the perforated cover through Which cooling air flows into the radiator. In the past I have just sprayed it off with a water hose, but I noticed there was a dusty build up on the surface and wondered if there could also be some buildup reducing the diameter of the little holes in the cover.

After doing these two things my temperature gauge now is running about one third up, after cutting grass for an hour or two on an 85 degree day. This is a little lower than last time when I did a complete cleaning of my radiator, using a mild detergent to eliminate oil that had saturated the radiator after I had a hydraulic hose failure in the steering circuit.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is: Don't assume that the perforated cover through which the air flows into the radiator is OK. There is a chance that each hole in that cover may have a little bit of build up on its interior edge which might be causing a reduction in airflow to the radiator. My gut is telling me that in my case there was a bit of restriction and my cleaning it with detergent and the paint brush made a difference.

No way to know for sure but I'm happy to see my temperature indicator showing a lot lower than it used to!

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I am going to get myself a longer reaching air gun and see if blowing out the radiator helps. I do keep the screen cleaned out (the removable one in front of the radiator) but I have never blown out the radiator fins themselves. Thanks for the tips.

oldballs, I have never had an issue with the tractor but that needle approaching the red zone has a psychological affect I guess. It makes me a nervous.

Thanks,

Brian

I have one that is home made. Just take a regular cheapo short blow nozzle and remove the end Get a piece of copper tubing and either thread , flare or otherwise mount it in place of the safety tip they had on there. My tube is about 2' long . Just fold over the end mostly so there is only a small gap . It works like a charm.
The only thing you need to watch is the recoil when you pull the trigger. I guide it with my other hand. It excels for blowing that chaff out of the areas like between the radiator and oil cooler ect. Nice and cheap, easily customized.
