Kubota D1105 Fuel shutoff issue?

Did you bend the plunger on the solenoid?? I've seen where people try to take the pump out w/o removing the solenoid 1st.. IF its the type that screws into the end of the block & pushes directly on the inj. pump rack..
Is it possible you have the pin on the PUMP RACK in the wrong slot on the ENGINE rack??

Not the solenoid. That was removed before the pump was pulled, I did recheck it and it's functioning fine. Can you clarify the pin part? My other query is the small pins in the pump itself. They have small slots in the end, I assume these are for fuel metering? Is it possible that if I installed them 180 degrees out, this could cause the issue? I don't think I did, as I replaced one at a time and tried to put everything back as it was, but the schematics don't really show that kind of detail. I don't envy you pumpguy.....

Ok, I figured out what you meant about the wrong slot, mine is correct. Thanks to 100td for that manual link. Just for giggles, with the fuel lines off, I cranked the motor, good pulses at each injector with the rack slid wide open, slide the rack closed and I'm still getting fuel pulses. So, did I put the plungers in 180 degrees out? This seems pretty feasible, at least in my head, as long as my thought about them acting as fuel metering devices is correct. One would assume that with the rack slid to the closed position, the fuel would no longer come out of the injector, but be diverted to the return line? Momma told me to never work on diesels.......I should have listened to momma....

Its possible the plungers are 180* out.. BUT.. if they were.. the pump shouldn't have pumped in the RUN position..& pumped in the SHUT-OFF position..
BUT> if you ONLY took the bottom apart, that's the only thing it could be..
NOW, IF you took the TOP apart.. that's a whole different ball game..
Did you take the segments out of the bottom??[under the springs] the 1" gears w/ the teeth on them, that engage the rack??
IF so, they could be off a tooth..
THIS IS WHY, I get paid the "BIG BUCKS".. Lol
Theres enough information on the web to get yourself in REAL trouble..

Ok pump guy, I see what you are getting at, can you elaborate on how to check and set this? I don't remember pulling any gears, there was a cup below the spring with a little ball attached that engages on the slider part, one of those fell out.

There are SO MANY different variations that I "assumed" you had the gears.. it sounds like you just had the ball type.. all you have to do is make sure the ball engaged the slot in the rack..
SO I guess that leads us back to the plungers 180* out..
You HAVE TO MAKE SURE the rack slides free when your done.. BEFORE you put the pump back in the engine..
TRY repositioning the plungers.. & if you give up, send it to me.. I'll be happy to reassemble it for ya..

I have a box ready, but at this point it's become personal........:confused2:
That being said, I read your message this morning, pulled the pump, spun the plungers 180*, reinstalled, and lo and behold, pulses when the throttle is open, nothing when it's closed, so hopefully I am back on the downward side of this thing, thanks for the great info. Gotta go hook up some fuel lines etc and actually test this thing, fingers crossed, wish me luck(insert theme from Mission Impossible here)
I may have to swing down your way and treat you to a brew or two..............

Update: IT LIVES......BWAHAHAHAHAHA.... I feel like Dr Frankenstein..... So, a few small details to iron out(set engine speed, new intake gasket etc etc) and this thing should be back on line by monday morning. Couple of stumbles, I forgot to bleed the pump(crank crank crank....DOH!), left a line loose.....(Diesel sprayed in my coffee)but, I *was* kinda excited......

Big shout out to thePumpguySC for his invaluable insight and 100 TD for providing me with links to service manuals.
Without this valuable resource and the accumulated knowledge, I would never have been able to correctly diagnose and repair this item. Hopefully I will be able to share what I picked up with another lost and confused soul.
