Re: Kubota dealer doesn\'t carry Kubota UDT!

My local Kubota dealer told me not to waste my money on the super UDT. he told me that when they service the tractors, they don't use the UDT or super UDT. They use New Holland. After speaking with him and explaining I can get Amalie Al Trac free and it says it meets udt standards, he told me to use it and that it would not void my warranty. I haven't noticed any problems.

In addition to being your opinion it's also the law. The Moss Magnueson Act says exactly what you did! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Have a good one,

Re: Kubota dealer doesn\'t carry Kubota UDT!

The bad part of not using brand oil is often the cost of the manufacturers oil is for some extra additive that might help the wet brakes last longer or to help keep moisture in control. The dealers like me actually hopes you do go to another oil so you can start buying parts sooner! Go ahead save a dollar today! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif You can buy and put in any oil legally, and you will get by today, but when the tractor is ten years old, who do you call? We do sell and stock fatory recommended oils, for a reason!

Hey Art, Kubota should tell 'all' their dealers to stock Kubota oils /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I've seen some Kubota dealers using JD hydraulic oil /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Do they do this because they (the dealer) can make more money off of another brand of oil?

Re: Kubota dealer doesn\'t carry Kubota UDT!

My dealer is the same, he doesn't carry Kubota UDT. He sells an off brand that meets UDT and Super UDT specifications. He says that is what he uses on all his service jobs. He said that he used to carry Kubota lubes but his customers, mainly farmers and ranchers, wouldn't pay the extra. Ofcourse, it could be that those same farmers and ranches only keep their tractors about 5 years before trading. They say that after 5 years of hard use the maintenance costs rise and it's cheaper and more convenient to trade for a new one and start again. There may be something to be learned there.

Re: Kubota dealer doesn\'t carry Kubota UDT!

My New Holland Operator's Manual lists the requirements that the oils and greases must meet to be used in my TC25D. They also list the New Holland parts that meet these specifications.

You are free to use any oil or grease that meets the specifications listed in your Operator's Manual.

Re: Kubota dealer doesn\'t carry Kubota UDT!

Straying from the original topic a little, but the service life of agricultural equipment probably also has a lot to do with when the accountant/tax preparer says that an asset is fully depreciated and unless it is exchanged for something else to continue depreciating, more cash is going to end up in the hands of the government. I'm not saying that is the only issue but another component that affects the decision to upgrade equipment on a commercial endeavor besides maintenance costs.

Re: Kubota dealer doesn\'t carry Kubota UDT!

That's the exact same deal with a local dealer here in Northern Virginia. He is a large Kubota dealer yet does not sell Kubota hydraulic fluid or oil. When I asked him about this he says they use Case and that the Kubota tractors they sell have Case oil and hydraulic fluid in them. So, not only doesn't he sell these products, the many Kubota tractors he does sell do not contain Kubota oils and fluids. I asked if Kubota will honor the warranty with those products and he said 'absolutely'. Well, needless to say, I didn't buy my Kubota from him, it doesn't compute when Kubota recommends them and yet Kubota dealers say it isn't necessary.
