As far as being out of stock, welcome to the club. It's like the BX thing all over again. They can't keep up with demand right now, but in a while there will be a ton of ZDxx owners out there. I've even heard rumor of a ZD27 / 72". ...anyway thanks for the info.

Trust me, you paid the "going rate". Suggested retail is NOT the going rate and VERY few people pay it.
If they could get more they would.
Gotta love the free marker! So, since you did pay the going rate, are you upset. I was when I bought mine. It was (I'm confident) a situation very much like Kubmech described. So many big things to track that the details get left behind. I'm over it though I still don't think it's right.
I got my tractor back yesterday with the FEL on. It had some little scrtaches on it but I put ALOT of scratches on it playing for 2 hours. I now have alot of orange tree limbs and rocks and dirt! I guess I was a little surprised how easy it was (when digging) to get it where it won't lift (stuck). The ground was kindof hard in spots. Also I got the AGs put on. Boy am I glad I did. I think they will help getting traction when FELing and they aren't hurting my hard as rock lawn a bit.
Of course the HST fluid is over filled, I think, which brings me to the question:
How can I make sure that all the fluid that is hgoing in to the FEL is in there and, do I check the fluid with the FEL down on the ground like I do with the mower deck.
Also, is there a manual I should have gotten with the FEL?

"So, since you did pay the going rate"

Dude, you don't even know what I paid. Get 3 prices on ZD21s in stock, and I'll tell you what I paid. :)
I think MSRP is about $10,500. Carver has them for $9999. Anyone feel free to correct me on this.

I am not upset. There was not a dealer within 2 states that had one in stock. A dealer 120 miles from me had a guy back out of a deal just as I called them to get a price. They held it for me, AND gave me the best price.

Yes, Rogue, as you suspect, you should have gotten the LA211 Loader Manual. They either lost it or just forgot to give it to you. And you can check the HST fluid with the loader down. The loader is most likely already bled, as it is easy to do, just put the loader to the extremes of it's travels for a bit and it'll bleed the air out of it on its own.

Hate to suggest it, but given your experiences with your dealer, make sure they come out to your place to show you how to take it off and put it back on. Easy to do once you know how. Takes less than 3 minutes to take off and less than 5 to put back on.

You're gonna LOVE the loader! Now I don't know how I lived without it, and I almost didn't get it!

Boner:
My point is that whatever they sell it to you for, it is the "going rate". Thats all.
Glad you like it. I bet it throws the grass like a cuisinart! (sp?)

I will make sure it is down when I check it. It is the coolest thing I own. I have to control myself to keep from digging up stuff that don't need dug!!

Just in case any of you thought maybe that KubMech's description of his day was maybe negative ( I read it a couple of times), he is really just giving a lighthearted and very honest version of just one crazy day. I had a auto shop for many years and am in the parts end of it now and I have to say he'd probably scare some of you if he relayed the REALLY goofy days! Sometimes it's hard to see the other side unless you've worn that hat. Having someone like KubMech posting on this board helps enlighten us all.

One of my favorite times was when a guy brought an engine for me to rebuild, went over all the costs on everything, no problem. Sent block to machine shop to hot tank etc etc, he comes back with wife (who he either hasn't told or whatever) and throws a screaming FIT telling me he wanted his stuff back right away, and no charges! My 2 year old daughter at the time sure could have learned something from this guy about throwing fits as she NEVER could compare with that guy!

Thanks for the back-up Del. I've worked at three different dealerships in the last 12 years. The mechanics are'nt the guys you have to worry about. We get paid by the hour, not commision, not from parts, not from sales. We just don't get a piece of that action. So there's no reason for us to push parts or sales (I can't speak for all dealers, but for the most part that's how it is). I know the stuff people see on 60 minutes is always on your mind, but realistically most mechanics, at least all the ones I've ever worked with, just want to do a nice job for the cust. and move on to the next one. Comebacks or problems with the work you did is like a knife straight to your heart. But you realize you can't be perfect everyday and you learn from that. I could write a book about wacked out customers (like the one you described, only problem with that is , the only ones that would read it would be mechanics, and we all know , mechanics can't read [that's a joke guys])
Followed up by a book about the decisions "upper management" has made, even though your adamant about the consequences of there decisions. Some of the best customers I have deal with me directly, and we never have a problem. (that's tough to do in some places) I geuss I'm kind of fortunate in that respect, because they don't have some pre-conceived notion that I'm a full of s..t moron that's out to screw 'em. So anyway, we're not as dumb as we look, just trying to do our job............

KubMech, I can relate to your position. Even though its been 20 years since I twisted a wrench for a living, I had run into many of your frustrations. Once in awhile, you run into a 'comeback' that could of been prevented, but the customer vetoed the additional part due their own situation...ie lack of money for the additional gear that would have prevented further problems or loud noises. Those I could understand, while not agreeing with the decision.
