Thanks for the back-up Del. I've worked at three different dealerships in the last 12 years. The mechanics are'nt the guys you have to worry about. We get paid by the hour, not commision, not from parts, not from sales. We just don't get a piece of that action. So there's no reason for us to push parts or sales (I can't speak for all dealers, but for the most part that's how it is). I know the stuff people see on 60 minutes is always on your mind, but realistically most mechanics, at least all the ones I've ever worked with, just want to do a nice job for the cust. and move on to the next one. Comebacks or problems with the work you did is like a knife straight to your heart. But you realize you can't be perfect everyday and you learn from that. I could write a book about wacked out customers (like the one you described, only problem with that is , the only ones that would read it would be mechanics, and we all know , mechanics can't read [that's a joke guys])
Followed up by a book about the decisions "upper management" has made, even though your adamant about the consequences of there decisions. Some of the best customers I have deal with me directly, and we never have a problem. (that's tough to do in some places) I geuss I'm kind of fortunate in that respect, because they don't have some pre-conceived notion that I'm a full of s..t moron that's out to screw 'em. So anyway, we're not as dumb as we look, just trying to do our job............
